- 8. An apparatus according to claim 5, wherein said operating means prevents jam detecting operation of said detecting means during the operation in the second mode.
- 9. An apparatus according to claim 5, wherein said checking means checks the improper state of said detecting means while the recording medium is being conveyed.
- 10. A reproducing apparatus comprising:
- image means for forming an image on a recording medium;
- means for conveying the recording medium along a predetermined conveyance path;
- a first sensor disposed in the path for sensing the recording medium;
- a second sensor disposed downstream of said first sensor with respect to the movement direction of the recording medium for sensing the recording medium;
- first jam detecting means for designating a jam occurrence when said first sensor does not detect the recording medium at a first time and for stopping operation of said image forming means;
- second jam detecting means for designating a jam occurrence when said first sensor does not detect the recording medium at a second time and for stopping operation of said image forming means;
- discriminating means for discriminating, after said second jam detecting means stops the operation of said image forming means, whether said first sensor again detects the recording medium; and
- display means for effecting display relating to a position where the jam occurs on the basis of an output of said discriminating means.
- 11. An apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising means for warning of the detection of an abnormality in the same way regardless of the type of abnormality detected, and wherein said detecting means includes a plurality of means for sensing a recording medium located in different positions on the path of the recording medium, and said checking means checks which of said plurality of sensor means the recording medium is at.
- 12. An apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said second jam detecting means operates when first jam detecting means does not detect the jam.
- 13. An apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said display means graphically display the position of jam.
- 14. A reproducing apparatus comprising:
- process means operable to reproduce an image on a recording medium;
- means for accommodating the recording medium;
- means for sensing the recording medium;
- means for detecting a misfeed of the recording medium in response to said sensing means;
- means for preventing the operation of said process means when said detecting means detects the misfeed, and for maintaining said prevention; and
- means for releasing said preventionand enabling the operation of said process means on condition that said accommodating means is moved and said sensing means does not sense the recording medium.
