Claims
- 1. An image forming system comprising:
- an image forming apparatus;
- determining means provided in said image forming apparatus for determining the states of said image forming apparatus;
- means provided in said image forming apparatus for generating a signal to the exterior of said image forming apparatus indicating the stats of said image forming apparatus determined by said determining means;
- a plurality of receiving means provided independently of said image forming apparatus, each for receiving a signal generated by said generating means; and
- means provided in said image forming apparatus for selecting at least one of said receiving means to which the signal generated by said generating means is to be transmitted, in accordance with the determining by said determining means.
- 2. An image forming system according to claim 1, wherein at least one of said receiving means includes means for generating a sound signal.
- 3. An image forming system according to claim 1, wherein said determining means detects an error condition of said apparatus.
- 4. An image forming system according to claim 1, wherein said determining means detects an operational condition of said apparatus.
- 5. A system according to claim 1, wherein said selecting means changes the signal generated by said generating means for every selected receiving means.
- 6. A system according to claim 5, wherein said selecting mean changes the frequency of the signal.
- 7. A system according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of receiving means includes means for informing an operator of the states of said image forming apparatus in response to the received signal.
- 8. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- means for diagnosing a variety of states of said image forming apparatus and for generating diagnosis information representing a result of its diagnosis;
- first signal generating mean for generating a sound signal;
- second signal generating means for generating an electromagnetic wave signal; and
- means for selecting either said first or second signal generating means in accordance with contents of the diagnosis information so as to inform a person remote from said apparatus of the diagnosis result.
- 9. An image forming apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said diagnosis means detects an error condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 10. An apparatus according to claim 9, wherein said selecting means selects said second signal generating means when said diagnosis means detects an error condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 11. An image forming apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said diagnosis means detects an operational condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 12. An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said selecting means selects said first signal generating means when said diagnosis means detects the operation condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 13. An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said selecting mean selects said second signal generating means when said diagnosis means detects the end of an image forming operation of said image forming apparatus.
- 14. A system according to claim 8, further comprising means for generating an alarm sound in response to the sound signal.
- 15. A system according to claim 8, further comprising a terminal device for receiving the electromagnetic wave signal.
- 16. An apparatus according to claim 15, wherein said terminal device includes means for informing the person of the states of said image forming apparatus in response to the electromagnetic wave signal.
- 17. An apparatus according to claim 8, wherein the electromagnetic wave signal includes a high frequency signal.
- 18. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- means for diagnosing a variety of states of said image forming apparatus and for generating diagnosis information representing a result of its diagnosis;
- means for selecting, in accordance with contents of the diagnosis information, a limited information mode in which at least on specified person remote from said apparatus is informed of the diagnosis result or an unlimited information mode in which at least one unspecified person remote from sid apparatus is informed of the diagnosis result;
- means for informing the persons of the diagnosis result in either one of the information modes selected by said selecting means.
- 19. An apparatus according to claim 18, wherein said informing means generates an electromagnetic wave signal when the limited information mode is selected.
- 20. An apparatus according to claim 19, further comprising a terminal device for receiving the electromagnetic wave signal.
- 21. An apparatus according to claim 20, wherein said terminal device includes means for informing the specified person of the states of said image forming apparatus in response to the signal.
- 22. An apparatus according to claim 18, wherein said informing means generates a sound signal when the unlimited information mode is selected.
- 23. An apparatus according to claim 18, wherein said diagnosis means detects an error condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 24. An apparatus according to claim 18, wherein said diagnosis means detects an operational condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 25. An apparatus according to claim 24, wherein said selecting means selects the limited information mode when said diagnosis means diagnoses an error condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 26. An apparatus according to claim 24, wherein said selecting means selects the unlimited information mode when said diagnosis means diagnoses the operation condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 27. An apparatus according to claim 24, wherein said selecting means selects the limited information mode when said diagnosis means diagnoses the end of an image forming operation of said image forming apparatus.
- 28. An image forming apparatus capable of communicating with a plurality of terminal apparatuses, comprising:
- determining means for determining the states of said image forming apparatus;
- generating means for generating a signal to the plurality of terminal apparatuses, indicating the states of said image forming apparatus determined by said determining means; and
- selecting means for selecting at least one of the plurality of terminal apparatuses to which the signal generated by said generating means is to be transmitted,
- wherein said selecting means selects one or more of the plurality of terminal apparatuses in response to which terminal apparatus or terminal apparatuses have transmitted a signal to said image forming apparatus.
- 29. An image forming apparatus according to claim 28, wherein said determining means detects an error condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 30. An image forming apparatus according to claim 28, wherein said determining means detects an operation condition of said image forming apparatus.
- 31. An image forming apparatus according to claim 30, wherein said determining means detects a completion of an image forming operation.
- 32. An image forming apparatus according to claim 30, wherein said determining means detects a condition in which an image forming operation is being executed.
- 33. An image forming apparatus according to claim 28, wherein said selecting means selects one or more of said plurality of remote terminal apparatuses which have transmitted a predetermined signal to said image forming apparatus.
