Claims
- 1. A process cartridge removably attachable to a body of an image forming system, said process cartridge comprising:
- a frame;
- an electrophotographic photosensitive member;
- a cleaning member for cleaning toner deposited on said electrophotographic photosensitive member;
- a first attachment portion on said frame having a first attachment surface, for attaching said cleaning member to said process cartridge;
- a rotary development member for conveying the toner toward said electrophotographic photosensitive member, for developing a latent image formed on said electrophotographic photosensitive member;
- a regulation member for regulating a thickness of the toner deposited on a peripheral surface of said rotary development member; and
- a second attachment portion on said frame having a second attachment surface, for attaching said regulation member to said process cartridge, said second attachment surface being provided at said second attachment portion on said frame facing in a substantially same direction as said first attachment surface provided at said first attachment portion on said frame.
- 2. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said first attachment surface and said second attachment surface are formed substantially in parallel with each other.
- 3. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said cleaning member comprises a resilient cleaning blade abutted against said electrophotographic photosensitive member and a cleaning blade holder for supporting said cleaning blade, said cleaning blade holder being attached to said first attachment surface.
- 4. A process cartridge according to claim 3, wherein said cleaning blade holder is fixed to said first attachment surface by a screw.
- 5. A process cartridge according to claim 3, wherein said cleaning blade holder is fixed to said first attachment surface by an adhesive agent.
- 6. A process cartridge according to claim 3, wherein said cleaning blade holder is fixed to said first attachment surface by press-fitting.
- 7. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said regulation member comprises a resilient doctor blade abutted against said rotary development member and a doctor blade holder for supporting said doctor blade, said doctor blade holder being attached to said second attachment surface.
- 8. A process cartridge according to claim 7, wherein said doctor blade holder is fixed to said second attachment surface by a screw.
- 9. A process cartridge according to claim 7, wherein said doctor blade holder is fixed to said second attachment surface by an adhesive agent.
- 10. A process cartridge according to claim 7, wherein said doctor blade holder is fixed to said second attachment surface by press-fitting.
- 11. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein the first attachment surface at said first attachment portion on said frame is provided so as to face toward the photosensitive member, and the second attachment surface at said second attachment portion on said frame is provided so as to face away from the photosensitive member.
- 12. An image forming system, on which a process cartridge is removably attachable, for forming an image on a recording medium, said image forming system comprising:
- attachment means for attaching a process cartridge having a frame; an electrophotographic photosensitive member; a cleaning member for cleaning toner deposited on the electrophotographic photosensitive member; a rotary development member for conveying the toner toward the electrophotographic photosensitive member, for developing a latent image formed on the electrophotographic photosensitive member; a regulation member for regulating a thickness of the toner deposited on a peripheral surface of the development rotary member; a first attachment portion on the frame having a first attachment surface, for attaching the cleaning member to the process cartridge; and a second attachment portion on the frame having a second attachment surface, for attaching the regulation member to the process cartridge, the second attachment surface being provided at the second attachment portion on the frame facing in a substantially same direction as the first attachment surface provided at the first attachment portion on the frame; and
- convey means for conveying the recording medium.
- 13. An image forming system according to claim 12, wherein said image forming system comprises an electrophotographic copying machine.
- 14. An image forming system according to claim 12, wherein said image forming system comprises a laser beam printer.
- 15. An image forming system according to claim 12, wherein said image forming system comprises a facsimile machine.
- 16. An assembling method for assembling a process cartridge, which is removably attachable to a body of an image forming system, said method comprising the steps of:
- providing a first attachment portion on a cartridge frame of said process cartridge, said first attachment portion having a first attachment surface;
- attaching a cleaning member to said first attachment surface, said cleaning member for cleaning toner from an electrophotographic photosensitive member;
- providing a second attachment portion on said cartridge frame, said second attachment portion having a second attachment surface;
- attaching a regulation member to said second attachment surface, said regulation member for regulating a toner thickness deposited on a peripheral surface of a rotary development member conveying the toner toward said electrophotographic photosensitive member, for developing a latent image formed on said electrophotographic photosensitive member; and
- providing said first attachment surface and said second attachment surface such that said second attachment surface is provided at said second attachment portion on said cartridge frame facing in a same direction as said first attachment surface provided at said first attachment portion on said cartridge frame.
- 17. An assembling method according to claim 16, wherein said first attachment surface and said second attachment surface are provided such that they are substantially parallel with each other.
- 18. An assembling method according to claim 16, wherein said cleaning member and said regulation member are attached to at least one of the first and second attachment surface by screwing a screw into a holder portion thereof.
- 19. An assembling method according to claim 16, wherein said cleaning member and said regulation member are attached to at least one of the first and second attachment surface by adhering a holder portion thereof with an adhesive agent.
- 20. An assembling method according to claim 16, wherein said cleaning member and said regulation member are attached to at least one of said first and second attachment surface by press-fitting a holder portion thereof.
- 21. An assembling method according to claim 16, wherein after the attaching of said cleaning member and said regulation member, said electrophotographic photosensitive member, which comprises a photosensitive member, is attached to said process cartridge in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said electrophotographic photosensitive member.
- 22. A process cartridge removably mountable onto a body of an electrophotographic image forming system, said process cartridge comprising:
- a cartridge frame;
- an electrophotographic photosensitive member;
- a developing roller for conveying toner to said electrophotographic photosensitive member for developing a latent image formed thereon;
- a developing blade for regulating an amount of toner deposited on a peripheral surface of said developing roller;
- a cleaning blade for removing residual toner on said electrophotographic photosensitive member;
- a developing blade attachment portion, provided on said cartridge frame and having a developing blade attachment surface for attaching said developing blade to said process cartridge; and
- a cleaning blade attachment portion, provided on said cartridge frame and having a cleaning blade attachment surface, for attaching said cleaning blade to said process cartridge, wherein the cleaning blade attachment surface is provided at the cleaning blade attachment portion facing in a same direction as the developing blade attachment surface provided at the developing blade attachment portion.
- 23. A process cartridge according to claim 22, wherein said developing blade attachment surface and said cleaning blade attachment surface are formed substantially in parallel with each other.
- 24. A process cartridge according to claim 22, further comprising a cleaning blade holder for supporting said cleaning blade, said cleaning blade holder being attached to said cleaning blade attachment surface, wherein said cleaning blade is abutted against said electrophotographic photosensitive member.
- 25. A process cartridge according to claim 24, wherein said cleaning blade holder is fixed to said cleaning blade attachment surface by a screw.
- 26. A process cartridge according to claim 24, wherein said cleaning blade holder is fixed to said cleaning blade attachment surface by an adhesive agent.
- 27. A process cartridge according to claim 24, wherein said cleaning blade holder is fixed to said cleaning blade attachment surface by press-fitting.
- 28. A process cartridge according to claim 22, further comprising a developing blade holder for supporting said developing blade, wherein said developing blade is abutted against said developing roller, and said developing blade holder is attached to said developing blade attachment surface at said developing blade attachment portion.
- 29. A process cartridge according to claim 28, wherein said developing blade holder is fixed to said developing blade attachment surface by a screw.
- 30. A process cartridge according to claim 28, wherein said developing blade holder is fixed to said developing blade attachment surface by an adhesive agent.
- 31. A process cartridge according to claim 28, wherein said developing blade holder is fixed to said developing blade attachment surface by press-fitting.
- 32. A process cartridge according to claim 28, wherein said developing blade holder is attached to the developing blade attachment surface by a screw.
- 33. A process cartridge according to claim 28, wherein said developing blade is installed from above the developing blade attachment portion, and said developing blade holder is fastened by a screw from a direction so as to face toward the developing blade attachment surface at said developing blade attachment portion.
- 34. A process cartridge according to claim 24, wherein said cleaning blade is installed from above the cleaning blade attachment portion, and said cleaning blade holder is fastened by a screw from a direction so as to face toward the cleaning blade attachment surface at said cleaning blade attachment portion.
- 35. A process cartridge according to claim 22, wherein said cartridge frame comprises an upper frame connected with a lower frame having a charge roller for charging said electrophotographic photosensitive member, said upper frame being located in an upper position and said lower frame being located in a lower position, when said process cartridge is mounted to the main body of said electrophotographic photosensitive member.
- 36. A process cartridge according to claim 35, wherein said upper frame includes an exposure opening for an exposing light corresponding to the image signal to said electrophotographic photosensitive member, and a toner containing portion for containing the toner to be used with said developing roller for developing.
- 37. A process cartridge according to claim 35 or 36, wherein said upper frame and lower frame are separably connected, said upper and lower frames being connected by engagement of an opening and a hook.
- 38. A process cartridge according to claim 22, wherein said cleaning blade attachment surface at the cleaning blade attachment portion is provided so as to face toward the electrophotographic photosensitive member, and said developing blade attachment surface at the developing blade attachment portion is provided so as to face away from the photosensitive member.
- 39. An electrophotographic image forming system on which a process cartridge is removably mounted, for forming an image on a recording medium, said electrophotographic image forming system comprising:
- mount means for removably mounting a process cartridge including a cartridge frame, an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing roller for conveying a toner to said electrophotographic photosensitive member for forming a latent image formed thereon, a developing blade for regulating an amount of the toner adhered to a peripheral surface of said developing roller, a cleaning blade for removing residual toner on said electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing blade attachment portion provided on the cartridge frame having developing blade attachment surface for attaching said developing blade to the cartridge frame, a cleaning blade attachment portion provided on said cartridge frame having a cleaning blade attachment surface for attaching said cleaning blade to the cartridge frame, the cleaning blade attachment surface being provided at the cleaning blade attachment portion facing in a same direction as said developing blade attachment surface provided at said developing blade attachment portion; and
- conveying means for conveying the recording medium.
- 40. A process cartridge removably mounted onto a main body of an electrophotographic image forming system, said process cartridge comprising:
- a lower frame including an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing roller for conveying toner to the electrophotographic photosensitive member for developing a latent image formed thereon, a resilient developing blade for regulating an amount of toner deposited on a peripheral surface of the developing roller, a resilient cleaning blade for removing residual toner on the electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing blade attachment portion provided on said lower frame having a developing blade attachment surface for attaching the developing blade to said process cartridge, the developing blade being attached to said process cartridge by attaching a developing blade holder at the developing blade attachment surface, the developing blade holder thereby supporting the developing blade on the developing blade attachment surface, and a cleaning blade attachment portion provided on said lower frame having a cleaning blade attachment surface for attaching the cleaning blade to said process cartridge, the cleaning blade being attached to said process cartridge by attaching a cleaning blade holder at the cleaning blade attachment surface, the cleaning blade holder thereby supporting the cleaning blade on the cleaning blade attachment surface; and
- an upper frame separately connected to said lower frame, said upper frame including a charging roller for charging the electrophotographic photosensitive member, and an exposing opening for exposing light corresponding to image information to the electrophotographic photosensitive member when the process cartridge is mounted onto the main body of the electrophotographic image forming system,
- wherein the developing blade attachment portion and the cleaning blade attachment portion are disposed with the electrophotographic photosensitive member intervening therebetween in a horizontal direction, the cleaning blade attachment surface of the cleaning blade attachment portion being provided so as to face toward the electrophotographic photosensitive member, the developing blade attachment surface of the developing blade attachment portion being provided so as to face away from the electrophotographic photosensitive member,
- wherein said lower frame and upper frame are respectively located at a lower position and an upper position when the process cartridge is mounted onto the main body of the electrophotographic image forming system.
- 41. A process cartridge according to claim 40, wherein said lower frame and upper frame are separably connected by engaging a hook provided on said upper frame with an opening provided on said lower frame.
- 42. A process cartridge according to claim 40, wherein the cleaning blade is installed from above the cleaning blade attaching portion and the blade holder is fastened to the cleaning blade attachment surface by a screw, and the developing blade is installed from above the developing blade attachment portion and the blade holder is fastened to the developing blade attachment surface by a screw.
- 43. A process cartridge according to claim 40 or 42, wherein the cleaning blade attachment surface of the cleaning blade attachment portion and the developing blade attachment surface of the developing blade attachment portion are disposed substantially in parallel with each other.
- 44. A electrophotographic image forming apparatus onto which a process cartridge is removably mountable for forming an image on a recording medium, said electrophotographic image forming apparatus comprising:
- mount means for removably mounting process cartridge including a lower frame having an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing roller for conveying toner to said electrophotographic photosensitive member for developing a latent image formed thereon, a resilient developing blade for regulating an amount of toner deposited on a peripheral surface of said developing roller, a resilient cleaning blade for removing residual toner on said electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing blade attaching portion provided on said lower frame having a developing blade attachment surface for attaching said developing blade to the process cartridge, said developing blade being attached to the process cartridge by attaching a developing blade holder, for supporting said developing blade, the developing blade attachment surface, and a cleaning blade attachment portion provided on said lower frame having a cleaning blade attachment surface for attaching said cleaning blade to the process cartridge, said cleaning blade being attached to the cleaning blade attachment surface by attaching a cleaning blade holder, for supporting said cleaning blade, to the cleaning blade attachment surface; and
- an upper frame separately connected to said lower frame, said upper frame having a charging roller for charging said electrophotographic photosensitive member, and an exposing opening for exposing light corresponding to image information to said electrophotographic photosensitive member when said process cartridge is mounted onto a main body of said electrophotographic photosensitive member,
- wherein said developing blade attachment portion and said cleaning blade attachment portion are disposed with said electrophotographic photosensitive member intervening therebetween in a horizontal direction, the cleaning blade attachment surface at said cleaning blade attachment portion being provided so as to face toward said electrophotographic photosensitive member, the developing blade attachment surface at said developing blade attachment portion is provided so as to face away from said electrophotographic photosensitive member, and
- wherein said lower frame and said upper frame are respectively located at a lower position and an upper position when the said process cartridge is mounted onto the main body of said image forming apparatus; and
- convey means for conveying a recording medium.
- 45. A process cartridge according to claim 1, further comprising charging means for charging the electrophotographic photosensitive member.
