Claims
- 1. A photographic element comprising a hydrophilic colloid crosslinked with at least one compound chosen from the set consisting of: ##STR21## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl or substituted alkyl of 1 to 24 carbons; aryl, or substituted aryl, of 6 to 24 carbons; aralkyl, or substituted aralkyl, of 7 to 25 carbons; the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or --C(O)R.sup.5 ;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons; aryl, or substituted aryl, of 6 to 24 carbons; aralkyl, or substituted aralkyl, of 7 to 25 carbons; --OR.sup.6 ; nitro; carboxyl; mercapto; alkylamino, or substituted alkylamino, or 1 to 24 carbons; the atoms chosen from C, N, O and S necessary to from an unsubstituted, or substituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or halogen;
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently represent hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons; nitro; carboxyl; mercapto; --OR.sup.7 ; R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may independently represent the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may be taken together to represent the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; and
- R.sup.31 is hydrogen, --CONH.sub.2 or --C.sub.6 H.sub.5.
- 2. A photographic element comprising a hydrophilic colloid crosslinked with at least on compound chosen from the set consisting of: ##STR22## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl or substituted alkyl of 1 to 24 carbons; aryl, or substituted aryl, of 6 to 24 carbons; aralkyl, or substituted aralkyl, of 7 to 25 carbons; the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or --C(O)R.sup.5 ;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons; aryl, or substituted aryl, of 6 to 24 carbons; aralkyl, or substituted aralkyl, of 7 to 25 carbons; --OR.sup.6 ; nitro; carboxyl; mercapto; alkylamino, or substituted alkylamino, of 1 to 24 carbons; the the atoms chosen from C, N, O and S necessary form an unsubstituted, or substituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or halogen;
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently represent hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons; nitro; carboxyl; mercapto; --OR.sup.7 ; R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may independently represent the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may be taken together to represent the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; and
- X.sup.- is a counter ion as necessary to balance the charge of the molecule.
- 3. A photographic element comprising a hydrophilic colloid crosslinked with at least one compound defined by at least one compound chosen from a group consisting of: ##STR23## wherein: L comprises alkylene of 1 to 20 carbons; phenyl; naphthyl; diphenyl; anthracene; phenanthrene; or benzyl;
- R.sup.1 is an alkyl or substituted alkyl of 1 to 24 carbons; aryl, or substituted aryl, of 6 to 24 carbons; aralkyl, or substituted aralkyl, of 7 to 25 carbons; the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6membered ring; or --C(O)R.sup.5 ;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons; aryl, or substituted aryl, of 6 to 24 carbons; aralkyl, or substituted aralkyl, of 7 to 25 carbons; --OR.sup.6 ; nitro; carboxyl; mercapto; alkylamino, or substituted alkylamino, of 1 to 24 carbons; the atoms chosen from C, N, O and S necessary to from an unsubstituted, or substituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or halogen;
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently represent hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons; nitro; carboxyl; mercapto; --OR.sup.7 ; R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may independently represent the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may be taken together to represent the atoms chosen from C, N, O, and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring;
- R.sup.5 represents an alkyl, or substituted aryl, of 1 to 24 carbons, aryl, or substituted aryl, of 6 to 24 carbons; aralkyl, or substituted aralkyl, of 7 to 25 carbons; --OR.sup.8 ; --CN; --NR.sup.9 R.sup.10 ; the atoms chosen from C, N, O and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring;
- R.sup.6 represents hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons;
- R.sup.7 represents hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons;
- R.sup.8 represents hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons; aryl, or substituted, aryl of 6 to 24 carbons;
- R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 independently represent hydrogen; alkyl, or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 24 carbons; aryl, or substituted aryl, of 6 to 24 carbons; aralkyl, or substituted aralkyl, of 7 to 25 carbons; the atoms chosen from C, N, O and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring; or R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 may be taken together to represent the atoms chosen from C, N, O and S necessary to form a substituted, or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered ring;
