Claims
- 1. A method of inhibiting the action of .beta.-lactamase enzymes in an individual in need of such inhibition treatment, which comprises treating said individual with an effective amount of 6.beta.-allyl penicillanic acid 1,1-dioxide or its pharmaceutically or veterinarily acceptable salts.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein 6.beta.-allyl penicillanic acid 1,1-dioxide sodium salt is employed for treating said individual.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the treatment of said individual is carried out with a mixture of 10 to 90% by weight of the mixture of 6.beta.-allyl penicillanic acid 1,1-dioxide or it pharmaceutically or veterinarily acceptable salts with a .beta.-lactam antibiotic susceptible to destruction by .beta.-lactamase.
