Claims
- 1. A method of inhibiting thrombin in the treatment of disease comprising administering to a mammal a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the formula: ##STR18## in which X=H or is an N-protecting group; Y is Phe-Pro; Q1 and Q2 taken together represent the residue of a diol; R is C.sub.1-4 alkyl; and the asymmetric carbon atom marked * may have the D- or L- configuration.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.2 together represent 2,3 -dimethylbutandiol-2,3.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein X is benzyloxycarbonyl.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein R is CH.sub.3.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.2 together represent OPin.
- 6. The method of claim 5 wherein X is benzyloxycarbonyl.
- 7. A method of inhibiting thrombin in the treatment of disease comprising administering to a mammal a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the formula: Z-D-Phe-Pro-BOMe-OPin.
- 8. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a pharmaceutically effective amount of a compound of the formula: ##STR19## in which X=H or is an N-protecting group; Y is Phe-Pro; Q1 and Q2 taken together represent the residue of a diol; R is C.sub.1-4 alkyl; and the asymmetric carbon atom marked * may have the D- or L- configuration.
- 9. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 8 wherein Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.2 together represent 2,3-dimethylbutandiol-2,3.
- 10. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 9 wherein X is benzyloxycarbonyl.
- 11. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10 wherein R is CH.sub.3.
- 12. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 8 wherein Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.2 together represent OPin.
- 13. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 12 wherein X is benzyloxycarbonyl.
- 14. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a pharmaceutically effective amount of a compound of the formula: Z-D-Phe-Pro-BOMe-OPin.
