Claims
- 1. An ink cartridge comprising:
an ink chamber; a valve chamber; an ink supply port; a membrane valve seat disposed in the valve chamber to divide the valve chamber into a first compartment and a second compartment, wherein a periphery of the membrane valve seat is fixed to a wall of the valve chamber, a central portion of the membrane valve seat is displaceable with respect to the wall of the valve chamber, the membrane valve seat has a first surface facing the first compartment and receiving a pressure in the ink chamber via the first compartment and a second surface facing the second compartment and receiving a pressure in the ink supply port via the second compartment; and an ink flow passage selectively opened and closed by the displacement of the membrane valve seat central portion caused due to a pressure difference between the first and second compartments, to thereby selectively establish and interrupt fluidic communication between the ink chamber and the ink supply port.
- 2. The ink cartridge according to claim 1, wherein an opening of the ink flow passage, selectively opened and closed by the displacement of the membrane valve seat, is located at a center of the membrane valve.
- 3. The ink cartridge according to claim 1, wherein an opening of the ink flow passage, selectively opened and closed by the displacement of the membrane valve seat, is concentric with respect to the membrane valve seat.
- 4. The ink cartridge according to claim 1, wherein the wall of the valve chamber has a protruding portion selectively contacted with and separated from the membrane valve seat by the displacement of the membrane valve seat central portion.
- 5. The ink cartridge according to claim 4, wherein an opening of the ink flow passage is closed by contact between the protruding portion and the membrane valve seat.
- 6. The ink cartridge according to claim 1, wherein ink in the first compartment flows via the ink flow passage into the ink supply port when the ink flow passage is opened.
- 7. The ink cartridge according to claim 6, wherein ink in the first compartment flows via the ink flow passage and the second compartment into the ink supply port when the ink flow passage is opened.
- 8. The ink cartridge according to any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the membrane valve seat is formed at its center with a through-hole passing from the first surface to the second surface and defining the ink flow passage.
