Claims
- 1. An ink jet head, comprising:
- a plurality of discharging outlets disposed in an arrangement direction;
- a plurality of ink pathways, each said ink pathway communicating with an associated said discharging outlet, each of said ink pathways having an energy generating element for generating energy for discharging an ink from said discharging outlet; and
- a discharging outlet face having
- a discharging outlet surface, said discharging outlets being arranged in said discharging outlet surface,
- a water-repellent discharging outlet peripheral region circumscribing said discharging outlets, and having a first side and a second side, and
- a discontinuous hydrophilic region containing a number of portions each having a hydrophilic nature relative to said discharging outlet peripheral region and which portions are spacedly distributed in said discontinuous hydrophilic region, said discontinuous hydrophilic region being positioned on at least one said side of said discharging outlet peripheral region, said discontinuous hydrophilic region being separated by a predetermined distance from said discharging outlet peripheral region.
- 2. An ink jet head according to claim 1, wherein the discontinuous hydrophilic region is situated on both said sides of the discharging outlet peripheral region.
- 3. An ink jet head according to claim 1, wherein the discharging outlet face further comprises a continuous hydrophilic region.
- 4. An ink jet head according to claim 3, wherein the continuous hydrophilic region is positioned between the water-repellent discharging outlet peripheral region and the discontinuous hydrophilic region.
- 5. An ink jet head according to claim 1, wherein the discontinuous hydrophilic region is provided in a recess formed in the discharging outlet face on at least one of the first and second sides.
- 6. An ink jet apparatus, comprising:
- an ink jet head comprising;
- a plurality of discharging outlets disposed in an arrangement direction,
- a plurality of ink pathways, each said ink pathway communicating with an associated said discharging outlet, each of said pathways having an energy generating element for generating energy for discharging an ink from said discharging outlet,
- a discharging outlet face having
- a discharging outlet surface, said discharging outlets being arranged in said discharging outlet surface,
- a water-repellent discharging outlet peripheral region circumscribing said discharging outlets, and having a first side and a second side, and
- a discontinuous hydrophilic region containing a number of portions having a hydrophilic nature relative to said discharging outlet peripheral region and which portions are spacedly distributed in said discontinuous hydrophilic region, said discontinuous hydrophilic region being positioned on at least one said side of said discharging outlet peripheral region, said discontinuous hydrophilic region being separated by a predetermined distance from said discharging outlet peripheral region; and
- a cleaning blade for wiping and thereby cleaning said discharging outlet face as a consequence of relative movement with said discharging outlet face.
- 7. An ink jet apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said discontinuous hydrophilic region situated in the discharging outlet face is located on a downstream side of said discharging outlet face as determined in accordance with relative movement of the cleaning blade as it wipes the discharging outlet face.
- 8. An ink jet apparatus according to claim 6, further comprising a capping means for capping and thereby protecting the discharging outlets, said capping means also being used in a recovery of the discharging outlets so as to restore their discharging performance.
- 9. An ink jet apparatus, comprising:
- an ink jet head comprising;
- a plurality of discharging outlets disposed in an arrangement direction,
- a plurality of ink pathways, each said ink pathway communicating with an associated said discharging outlet, each of said pathways having an energy generating element for generating energy for discharging an ink from said discharging outlet,
- a discharging outlet face having
- a discharging outlet surface, said discharging outlets being arranged in said discharging outlet surface,
- a water-repellent discharging outlet peripheral region circumscribing said discharging outlets, and having a first side and a second side, and
- a discontinuous hydrophilic region containing a number of portions having a hydrophilic nature relative to said discharging outlet peripheral region and which portions are spacedly distributed in said discontinuous hydrophilic region, said discontinuous hydrophilic region being positioned on at least one said side of said discharging outlet peripheral region, said discontinuous hydrophilic region being separated by a predetermined distance from said discharging outlet peripheral region; and
- a capping means for capping and thereby protecting the discharging outlets, said capping means also being used in a recovery of the discharging outlets so as to restore their discharging performance.
- 10. an ink jet head, comprising:
- a plurality of discharging outlets disposed in an arrangement direction;
- a plurality of ink pathways, each said ink pathway communicating with an associated said discharging outlet, each of said ink pathways having an energy generating element for generating energy for discharging an ink from said discharging outlet; and
- a discharging outlet face having
- a discharging outlet surface, said discharging outlets being arranged in said discharging outlet surface,
- a water-repellent discharging outlet peripheral region circumscribing said discharging outlets, and having a first side and a second side, and
- a recessed hydrophilic region circumscribing said water-repellent region, said recessed hydrophilic region being positioned along the arrangement direction of the discharging outlets on at least one said side of said discharging outlet peripheral region, said recessed hydrophilic region being separated by a predetermined distance from said discharging outlet peripheral region.
- 11. An ink jet apparatus, comprising:
- an ink jet head which comprises:
- a plurality of discharging outlets disposed in an arrangement direction;
- a plurality of ink pathways, each said ink pathway communicating with an associated said discharging outlet, each of said ink pathways having an energy generating element for generating energy for discharging an ink from said discharging outlet; and
- a discharging outlet face having
- a discharging outlet surface, said discharging outlets being arranged in said discharging outlet surface,
- a water-repellent discharging outlet peripheral region circumscribing said discharging outlets, and having a first side and a second side, and
- a recessed hydrophilic region circumscribing said water-repellent region, said recessed hydrophilic region being positioned along the arrangement direction of the discharging outlets on at least one said side of said discharging outlet peripheral region, said recessed hydrophilic region being separated by a predetermined distance from said discharging outlet peripheral region; and
- a cleaning blade for wiping and thereby cleaning said discharging outlet face as a consequence of a movement relative to said discharging outlet face.
- 12. An ink jet apparatus, comprising:
- an ink jet head which comprises:
- a plurality of discharging outlets disposed in an arrangement direction;
- a plurality of ink pathways, each said ink pathway communicating with an associated said discharging outlet, each of said ink pathways having an energy generating element for generating energy for discharging an ink from said discharging outlet; and
- a discharging outlet face having
- a discharging outlet surface, said discharging outlets being arranged in said discharging outlet surface,
- a water-repellent discharging outlet peripheral region circumscribing said discharging outlets, and having a first side and a second side, and
- a recessed hydrophilic region circumscribing said water-repellent region, said recessed hydrophilic region being positioned along the arrangement direction of the discharging outlets on at least one said side of said discharging outlet peripheral region, said recessed hydrophilic region being separated by a predetermined distance from said discharging outlet peripheral region; and
- a capping means for capping and thereby protecting the discharging outlets, said capping means also being used in a recovery of the discharging outlets so as to restore their discharging performance.
