Claims
- 1. A process for the preparation of a compound of formula I ##STR88## wherein W is CN or NO.sub.2 ; X is halogen or phenyl optionally substituted with one to three C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkylthio, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkylsulfinyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkylsulfonyl, halogen, CN, NO.sub.2, CF.sub.3, R.sub.4 CF.sub.2 B, R.sub.5 CO or NR.sub.6 R.sub.7 groups;
- Y is CF.sub.3, halogen or phenyl optionally substituted with one to three C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkylthio, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkylsulfinyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkylsulfonyl, halogen, CN, NO.sub.2, CF.sub.3, R.sub.4 CF.sub.2 B, R.sub.5 CO or NR.sub.6 R.sub.7 groups;
- Z is halogen or CF.sub.3 ;
- R.sub.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl; and Q is ##STR89## R.sub.4 is hydrogen, fluorine, CHF.sub.2, CHFCL or CF.sub.3 ; R.sub.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkoxy or NR.sub.6 R.sub.7 ; R.sub.6 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl; R.sub.7 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl or R.sub.8 CO; R.sub.8 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl; B is S(O).sub.4 or O; q is an integer of 0, 1 or 2;
- in which A is O or S;
- R.sub.14 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or may be taken together with either R.sub.15 or R.sub.17 and the atoms to which they are attached to form a 5- to 7-membered ring optionally substituted with one or two C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl groups;
- R.sub.15 and R.sub.16 are each independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl;
- R.sub.17 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or when taken together with R.sub.14 and the atoms to which they are attached may form a 5-to 7-membered ring optionally substituted with one or two C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl groups;
- R.sub.18 and R.sub.19 are each independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl or when taken together may form a ring wherein R.sub.18 R.sub.19 is represented by --CH.dbd.CH--CH.dbd.CH--; which comprises reacting a compound of formula III ##STR90## with at least one molar equivalent of a thiourea reagent of formula X ##STR91## in the presence of a solvent.
- 2. The process according to claim 1 wherein the thiourea reagent is 4-imidazoline-2-thione and the solvent is isopropanol.
