Claims
- 1. An insulated container stock material comprising:
a paper stock layer; an air containing layer having a plurality of air pockets disposed therein; and an extruded or laminated layer sandwiched between said paper stock layer and said air containing layer.
- 2. The insulated container stock material according to claim 1, wherein said paper stock material has a thickness greater than or equal to 10 mils and less than or equal to 26 mils.
- 3. The insulated container stock material according to claim 1, wherein said laminated or extruded layer is formed from high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene, or oriented polypropylene.
- 4. The insulated container stock material according to claim 1, wherein said extruded or laminated layer contains a plurality of depressions for forming a surface of said air containing layer.
- 5. The insulated container stock material according to claim 4, wherein said air containing layer includes a thin polymer film.
- 6. The insulated beverage container stock material according to claim 1, further comprising an insulating coating sandwiched between said extruded or laminated layer and said paper stock layer.
- 7. An insulated container comprising:
a container wall having a side portion; a bottom portion engaging said container wall along a lower side portion; a paper stock layer arranged along an exterior surface of said container wall; an air containing layer having a plurality of air pockets disposed therein arranged along an interior surface of said container wall; and an extruded or laminated layer sandwiched between said paper stock layer and said air containing layer.
- 8. The insulated container according to claim 7, wherein said laminated or extruded layer is formed from high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene, or oriented polypropylene.
- 9. The insulated container according to claim 7, wherein said extruded or laminated layer contains a plurality of depressions for forming a surface of said air containing layer.
- 10. The insulated container according to claim 7, wherein said air containing layer is a thin polymer film.
- 11. The insulated container according to claim 7, wherein said extruded or laminated layer is an expanded foam.
- 12. The insulated container according to claim 7, further comprising an insulating coating sandwiched between said extruded or laminated layer and said paper stock layer.
- 13. A method of producing an insulated container, comprising the steps of:
providing a paper cupstock having a container wall for surrounding a beverage containing space, a bottom portion, and a paper stock layer arranged along an exterior surface of said container wall; and applying an air containing layer having a plurality of air pockets disposed therein along an interior surface of said container wall; and applying an extruded or laminated layer between said paper stock layer and the beverage containing space.
- 14. The method of producing an insulated container according to claim 13, further comprising the step of:
applying a thermal insulating coating in a position between said air containing layer and said paper stock layer.
- 15. The method of producing an insulated container according to claim 13, said air pockets being formed with a blowing agent.
- 16. The method of producing an insulated container according to claim 13, wherein said air pockets contain at least one of ambient air and an inert gas.
- 17. The method of producing an insulated container according to claim 13, wherein said extruded or laminated layer is an expanded foam.
- 18. The insulated container stock material according to claim 1, wherein said container is for a beverage or food container.
- 19. The insulated container according to claim 7, wherein said container is a beverage or food container.
- 20. The method of producing an insulated container according to claim 13, container wherein said container is a beverage or food container.
