Claims
- 1. A liquid development composition comprising:
- a hydrocarbon liquid vehicle;
- a charge control agent; and
- a colorant;
- wherein the colorant comprises a stable dispersion of magnetic particles in an aqueous medium, said dispersion containing a fluidized matrix of an ion exchange resin.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the hydrocarbon is selected from high purity alkanes having about 6 to about 14 carbon atoms and isoparaffinic hydrocarbons.
- 3. The composition of claim 2, wherein the liquid vehicle is an isoparaffinic hydrocarbon.
- 4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the charge control agent is selected from the group consisting of lithium, cadmium, calcium, manganese, magnesium and zinc salts of heptanoic acid; barium, aluminum, cobalt, manganese, zinc, cerium and zirconium salts of 2-ethyl hexanoic acid; barium, aluminum, zinc, copper, lead and iron salts of stearic acid; calcium, copper, manganese, nickel, sulfate, sodium dihexyl sulfosuccinate, sodium dioctyl resinate, aluminum salt of 3,5 di-t-butyl gamma resorcylic acid; and mixtures of the same.
- 5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the charge control agent is present in an amount from about 0.001 to about 3% by weight.
- 6. The composition of claim 5, wherein the charge control agent is present in an amount from about 0.01 to about 0.8% by weight.
- 7. The composition of claim 1, further comprising a viscosity controlling agent.
- 8. The composition of claim 7, wherein the viscosity controlling agent is selected from the group consisting of alkylated polyvinyl pyrrolidones, thickeners, pigments and clay.
- 9. The composition of claim 7, wherein the viscosity controlling agent is present in an amount from about 0.5 to about 40% by weight.
- 10. The composition of claim 1, further comprising a conductivity enhancing agent.
- 11. The composition of claim 1, further comprising a charge adjunct.
