Claims
- 1. A method for loading parts, including a web and chords, for a wing spar onto a floor assembly jig for holding said parts in position for fastening together to make a wing spar, comprising:
- mounting said web in a horizontal position on a pivotal frame;
- rotating said pivotal frame upward to a vertical position to position said web on a plurality of support pins on said floor assembly jig; and
- returning said frame back to said horizontal position.
- 2. A method for loading parts as defined in claim 1, further comprising:
- mounting said chords on said pivotal frame;
- rotating said pivotal frame upward to a vertical position to position said chords against stops on said floor assembly jig;
- actuating clamps to secure said chords to said jig and to said web; and
- returning said frame back to said horizontal position.
- 3. A system for loading parts having alignment holes to a workpiece clamp-up position on a floor assembly jig that holds said parts in position for fastening together into a large mechanical structure, said system comprising:
- a bracket having a clamp for holding said parts;
- a flip door slidably engagable with said bracket for moving said parts toward and away from said floor assembly jig; and
- a scaffold pivotally supporting said flip door and allowing rotation of the bracket from a horizontal position perpendicular to said assembly jig to a vertical position parallel to said assembly jig.
- 4. The system for loading parts according to claim 3, further comprising:
- a temporary support having pins that are in alignment with said alignment holes of said parts when said bracket is rotated from said horizontal position to said vertical position and slid along said flip door toward said assembly jig.
