Claims
- 1. A game ticket comprising:
topside and bottomside surfaces and at least one play area defined on either of said surfaces; scratch-off material formed over said at least one play area; a radiation wavelength sensitive additive selectively incorporated substantially uniformly throughout said scratch-off material wherein said additive is detectable by radiating said document in a predetermined spectrum of radiation, wherein said radiation wavelength sensitive additive emits radiant energy in a second band of wavelengths when radiated in a first band of wavelengths.
- 2. The document of claim 1, wherein said additive is selected from the group consisting of luminophor additives and additives.
- 3. The lottery game ticket comprising:
topside and bottomside surfaces and at least one play area defined on either of said surfaces; scratch-off material formed over said at least one play area; and a radiation sensitive layer positioned above or below the scratch-off material, said radiation sensitive layer being detectable by radiating said ticket in predetermined band of wavelengths, wherein said radiation sensitive layer emits radiant energy in a second band of wavelengths when radiated in a first band of wavelengths.
- 4. The lottery game ticket of claim 3, wherein said radiation sensitive additive is selected from the group consisting of luminophor additives and phosphor additives.
- 5. A lottery game ticket having topside and a bottomside surface, and a play area including an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, wherein at least a substantial portion of at least one of said outer or indicia icon surfaces exhibits a plurality of colors under white light and substantially uniform reflectance characteristics under illumination at a predetermined narrow band of wavelengths.
- 6. The game ticket of claim 5, wherein said outer surface exhibits a first reflectance characteristic under illumination at said predetermined narrow band of wavelengths, and wherein said indicia icon surface exhibits a second reflectance characteristic under illumination at said predetermined narrow band of wavelengths so that said outer surface is in contrast with said indicia icon surface when illuminated at said predetermined narrow band of wavelengths.
- 7. The game ticket of claim 5, wherein said at least one surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance in that a reflectance of said surface is within a predetermined range of reflectives.
- 8. The game ticket of claim 5, wherein at least one of said outer surface and said indicia icon surface includes a background portion and a pattern portion, wherein said background and pattern portion of said at least either of said outer and indicia icon surface exhibit distinguishable reflectance characteristics under illuminate at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 9. The game ticket of claim 5, wherein said outer surface includes a pattern portion and a background portion and said indicia icon surface includes a pattern portion and a background portion and wherein said pattern portion of said outer surface, said background portion of said outer surface, said pattern portion of said indicia icon surface, and said background portion of said indicia icon surface each exhibits distinguishable reflectance characteristics under illumination at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 10. The game ticket of claim 5, wherein at least one of said outer and said indicia icon surface includes a background portion and a pattern portion, wherein said indicia icon surface and said outer surface exhibit distinguishable reflectance characteristics under illumination at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said background and pattern portion of said at least either of said indicia icon surfaces and said outer surfaces exhibit distinguishable reflectance characteristics under illumination at a second predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 11. The game ticket of claim 5, wherein said outer surface includes a pattern portion and a background portion and said indicia icon surface includes a pattern portion and a background portion and wherein said indicia icon and said outer surface exhibit distinguishable reflectance characteristics under illumination at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said pattern and background portions of said outer and indicia icon surface exhibit distinguishable reflectance characteristics under illumination at a second predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 12. A method for making lottery game tickets of first and second styles, wherein each ticket includes a play area having an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, said method being characterized in that said method includes the steps of:
controlling manufacture of said tickets of said first style so that said outer surface of tickets of said first style exhibits at least one first color under white light and at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated at a first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths; and controlling manufacture of said tickets of said second style so that said outer surface of tickets of said second style exhibits at least one second color under in white light different from said at least one first color and further exhibits said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated at said first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths.
- 13. The method of claim 12, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said outer surface is substantially uniform when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 14. The method of claim 12, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said outer surface is substantially uniform within a predetermined range of reflectance measurements when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 15. The method of claim 12, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a pattern of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 16. The method of claim 12, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a pattern of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance within a predetermined range of reflectance measurements when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 17. The method of claim 12, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a background of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance-when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 18. The method of claim 12, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a background of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance within a predetermined range of reflectance measurements when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 19. The method of claim 12, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a pattern of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and a background of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, said uniform reflectances exhibited by said pattern and said background being distinguishable from one another.
- 20. The method of claim 12, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a pattern of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance within a first predetermined range of reflectance measurements when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and a background of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance within a second predetermined reflectance range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, wherein said first predetermined reflectance range does not overlap said second predetermined reflectance range.
- 21. A method for making lottery game tickets of first and second styles, wherein each ticket includes a play area having an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, said method being characterized in that said method includes the steps of:
controlling manufacture of said tickets of said first style so that said indicia icon surface of tickets of said first style exhibit at least a first color as seen in white light and at least a first predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated at a first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths; controlling manufacture of said tickets of said second style so that said indicia icon surface of tickets of said second style exhibit at least a second color under white light different from said first and further exhibit said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated at said first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths.
- 22. A method for making lottery game tickets of first and second styles, wherein each ticket includes a play area having an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, said method being characterized in that said method includes the steps of:
controlling manufacture of said tickets of said first style so that said outer surface of tickets of said first style exhibit at least one first color under white light, and at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated at a first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths, and further so that said indicia icon surface of tickets of said first style exhibit at least one second predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated under at least a first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths; and controlling manufacture of said tickets of said second style so that said outer surface of tickets of said second style exhibit at least one second color under white light different from said first color, and said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated at a first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths, and further so that said indicia icon surface of tickets of said second style exhibit said at least one second predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated under said at least a first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths.
- 23. The method of claim 22, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said outer surface is substantially uniform when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said second predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said indicia icon surface is substantially uniform when illuminated data said narrow wavelength band, and wherein said uniform reflectances of said outer and indicia icon surfaces are distinguishable from one another.
- 24. The method of claim 22, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said outer surface is substantially uniform within a first predetermined range of reflectance measurements when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said second predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said indicia icon surface is substantially uniform within a second predetermined range of reflectance measurements when illuminated at a said narrow wavelength band, and wherein said first and second predetermined ranges of reflectances do not overlap.
- 25. The method of claim 22, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a pattern of said outer surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance within a first predetermined reflectance range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and a background of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance within a second predetermined reflectance range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said second at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a pattern of said indicia icon surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance within a third predetermined reflectance range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and a background of said indicia icon surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance within a fourth predetermined reflectance range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, wherein said first, second, third and fourth predetermined reflectance ranges do not overlap.
- 26. A method for making lottery game tickets of first, second, and third styles, wherein each ticket includes a play area having an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, said method being characterized in that said method includes the steps of:
controlling manufacture of said tickets of said first style so that said outer surface of tickets of said first style exhibits a first set of colors as seen in white light and first predetermined reflectance characteristics when illuminated at a first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths; controlling manufacture of said tickets of said second style so that said outer surface of tickets of said second style exhibits a second set of colors as seen in white light different from said first set of colors and further exhibit said first predetermined reflectance characteristics when illuminated at said first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths; and controlling manufacture of said tickets of said third style so that said outer surface of tickets of said third style exhibit a third set of colors as seen in white light different from said first and said second set of colors and further exhibits said first predetermined reflectance characteristics when illuminated at said first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths.
- 27. A method for making lottery game tickets of first, second, and third styles, wherein each ticket includes a play area having an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, said method being characterized in that said method includes the steps of:
controlling manufacture of said tickets of said first style so that said indicia icon surface of tickets of said first style exhibit a first set of colors as seen in white light and first predetermined reflectance characteristics when illuminated at a first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths; controlling manufacture of said tickets of said second style so that said indicia surface of tickets of said second style exhibits a second set of colors as seen in white light different from said first set of colors and further exhibits said first predetermined reflectance characteristics when illuminated at said first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths; and controlling manufacture of said tickets of said third style so that said indicia icon surface of tickets of said third style exhibit a third set of colors as seen in white light different from said first and said second set of colors and further exhibits said first predetermined reflectance characteristics when illuminated at said first predetermined narrow band of wavelengths.
- 28. A method for making a lottery game ticket of the type comprising a play area having an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, said outer surface including a pattern and a background, said method being characterized in that said method includes the step of controlling manufacture of said outer surface so that said background of said outer surface exhibits a plurality of colors under white light and said outer surface exhibits at least a first predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated at a predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 29. The method of claim 28, wherein said controlling step includes the step of controlling the manufacture of said outer layer so that said outer surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 30. The method of claim 28, wherein said controlling step includes the step of controlling the manufacture of said outer layer so that said pattern of said outer surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 31. The method of claim 28, wherein said controlling step includes the step of controlling the manufacture of said outer surface so that said background of said outer surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 32. The method of claim 28, wherein said controlling step includes the step of controlling the manufacture of said outer surface so that said pattern of said outer surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, wherein said background of said outer surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said substantially uniform reflectances exhibited by said pattern and said background are distinguishable different from one another.
- 33. A method for making a lottery game ticket of the type comprising a play area having an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, said indicia icon surface including a pattern and a background, said method being characterized in that said method includes the steps of controlling manufacture of said outer surface so that said outer surface exhibits a plurality of colors under white light and controlling manufacture of said indicia icon surface so that said indicia icon surface exhibits at least a first predetermined reflectance characteristic when illuminated at a predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 34. The method of claim 33, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that said indicia icon surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 35. The method of claim 33, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that said pattern of said indicia icon surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 36. The method of claim 33, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that said background of said indicia icon surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band.
- 37. The method of claim 33, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that said pattern of said indicia icon surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, wherein said background of said indicia icon surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance measurement when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said substantially uniform reflectances exhibited by said pattern and said background are distinguishable from one another.
- 38. A method for making a lottery game ticket of the type comprising a play area having an outer surface and an indicia icon surface, said outer surface including a pattern and a background, said indicia icon surface including a pattern and a background, said method being characterized in that said method includes the steps of:
controlling manufacture of said outer surface so that said outer surface exhibits a plurality of colors under white light and said outer surface exhibits at least a first predetermined reflectance characteristics when illuminated at a predetermined narrow wavelength band; and controlling manufacture of said indicia icon surface so that said indicia icon surface exhibits at least a second predetermined reflectance characteristics when illuminated at said predetermined narrow band of wavelengths.
- 39. The method of claim 38, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said outer surface is substantially uniform when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said second predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said indicia icon surface is substantially uniform when illuminated at a said narrow wavelength band, and wherein said uniform reflectances of said outer and indicia icon surfaces are distinguishable from one another.
- 40. The method of claim 38, wherein said at least one first predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said outer surface is substantially uniform within a first predetermined range of reflectance measurements when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said second predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a reflectance measurement of said indicia icon surface is substantially uniform within a second predetermined range of reflectance measurements when illuminated at a said narrow wavelength band, and wherein said first and second predetermined ranges of reflectances do not overlap.
- 41. The method of claim 38, wherein said first at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a pattern of said outer surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance within a fist predetermined reflectances range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and a background of said outer surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance within a second predetermined reflectance range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and wherein said second at least one predetermined reflectance characteristic is that a pattern of said indicia icon surface exhibits a substantially uniform reflectance within a third predetermined reflectance range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, and a background of said indicia icon surface exhibits substantially uniform reflectance within a fourth predetermined reflectance range when illuminated at said predetermined narrow wavelength band, wherein said first, second, third and fourth predetermined reflectance ranges do not overlap.
