Claims
- 1. A composition comprising the product of reacting
- (a) a copolymer comprising alpha-olefins having from two to eight carbon atoms, esters of alpha, beta-ethylenically-unsaturated carboxylic acids having from four to twenty-two carbon atoms, and metal salts of acrylic or methacrylic acid, wherein the copolymer has a haze of no more than ten percent as measured by ASTM method D 1003; and
- (b) a polymer selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyamide, polyurethane, and polycarbonate in the presence of sufficient acid to cross-link (a) and (b).
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the copolymer contains esters in an amount in the range of from about 2.3 mole percent to about 7.4 mole percent based on the copolymer.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein the metal salt of acrylic or methacrylic acid comprises between about 1.9 and about 7.5 mole percent of the copolymer.
- 4. The composition of claim 1 wherein the reaction occurs in an extruder.
- 5. A composition comprising the product of transesterifying:
- (a) a copolymer comprising alpha-olefins having from two to eight carbon atoms, esters of alpha, beta-ethylenically-unsaturated carboxylic acids having from four to twenty-two carbon atoms, and metal salts of acrylic or methacrylic acid, wherein the copolymer has a haze of no more than ten percent as measured by ASTM method D 1003; and
- (b) a polymer selected from the group consisting of ethylene alkyl acrylate copolymer, ethylene alkyl methacrylate copolymer, polyester, polyamide, polyurethane, and polycarbonate under transesterification conditions sufficient to cross-link (a) and (b).
- 6. The composition of claim 5 wherein the copolymer contains esters in an amount in the range of from about 2.3 mole percent to about 7.4 mole percent based on the copolymer.
- 7. The composition of claim 5 wherein the metal salt of acrylic or methacrylic acid comprises between about 1.9 and about 7.5 mole percent of the copolymer.
- 8. The composition of claim 5 wherein the reaction occurs in an extruder.
