Claims
- 1. A fastener adapted to removably mount an object in a mounting aperture of a panel, comprising:
a fastener body defining a second aperture configured to accept at least a portion of the object; and at least one elastic abutting flange defining an exterior concave portion configured to engage an inner surface of the mounting aperture when the fastener is inserted into the mounting aperture, said elastic abutting flange being disposed between said fastener body and said mounting aperture.
- 2. The fastener according to claim 1 wherein said body is defined by a pair of generally parallel side members.
- 3. The fastener according to claim 2 wherein at least one of said side members defines a third aperture configured to allow inward compression of said abutting flange.
- 4. A fastener according to claim 3 further comprising a pair of elastic abutting flanges.
- 5. The fastener according to claim 4 comprising a first pair of finger members configured to slidably accept a portion of the object.
- 6. The fastener according to claim 5 further comprising a second pair of finger members configured to slidably accept a portion of the object.
- 7. The fastener according to claim 5 wherein said body defines a centerline and said first pair of finger members engage said centerline at between 15° and 20°.
- 8. The fastener according to claim 6 wherein said body defines a centerline and said second pair of fingers engage said centerline at an angle between about 50° and about 60°.
- 9. The fastener according to claim 7 wherein said body defines a centerline and said second pair of fingers engage said centerline at between about 50° and about 60°.
- 10. The fastener according to claim 1, further comprising:
a sealing member generally surrounding at least a portion of said fastener body, said sealing member operable to engage at least one of the object and the panel.
- 11. The fastener according to claim 10 wherein said sealing member comprises:
a top surface having a first periphery; a bottom surface having a second periphery; a plurality of side surfaces interconnecting said top surface and said bottom surface; and and outwardly projecting lip portion disposed about at least one of said first periphery and said second periphery.
- 12. The fastener according to claim 11 wherein said sealing member further comprises:
a plurality of recesses disposed in at least one of said top surface and said bottom surface to permit the free articulation of said abutting flange.
- 13. The fastener according to claim 11 wherein said sealing member further comprises:
a slot formed through said top surface and said bottom surface, said slot being sized to sealingly engage said at least a portion of the object.
- 14. A U-shaped fastener adapted to be removably mounted within an aperture of a panel comprising:
a body defining a pair of generally parallel members, said parallel members being coupled by a curved end member; and a pair of abutting flanges defining an exterior concave surface configured to engage an inner surface of the mounting aperture when the fastener is inserted into the mounting aperture.
- 15. The fastener according to claim 14 wherein said abutting flanges are coupled to said curved end member.
- 16. The fastener according to claim 14 wherein said generally parallel members defines an aperture configured to allow inward compression of said abutting flanges.
- 17. The fastener according to claim 14 further comprising a first pair of fingers configured to slidably accept a portion of the object.
- 18. The fastener according to claim 17 wherein said body defines a centerline and said fingers comprise a surface oriented at between about 15° and 25° of said centerline.
- 19. The fastener according to claim 17 further comprising a second pair of fingers configured to slidably accept a portion of said object.
- 20. The fastener according to claim 19 wherein said second set of fingers defines a surface which is oriented at between about 50° and 60°.
- 21. The fastener according to claim 17 wherein said fingers define a object engaging the tip portion.
- 22. The fastener according to claim 19 wherein said second fingers comprise a tip portion capable of coupling said fingers to said object.
- 23. The fastener according to claim 17 wherein said abutting flanges are disposed between said body and said aperture.
- 24. The fastener according to claim 17 wherein said abutting flanges further comprise an exterior convex surface.
- 25. The fastener according to claim 17 wherein said first fingers are deformable toward said body.
- 26. The fastener according to claim 14, further comprising:
a sealing member generally surrounding at least a portion of said body, said sealing member operable to engage the panel.
- 27. The fastener according to claim 26 wherein said sealing member comprises:
a top surface having a first periphery; a bottom surface having a second periphery; a plurality of side surfaces interconnecting said top surface and said bottom surface; and and outwardly projecting lip portion disposed about at least one of said first periphery and said second periphery.
- 28. The fastener according to claim 27 wherein said sealing member further comprises:
a plurality of recesses disposed in at least one of said top surface and said bottom surface to permit the free articulation of said pair of abutting flanges.
- 29. The fastener according to claim 27 wherein said sealing member further comprises:
a slot formed through said top surface and said bottom surface, said slot being sized to sealingly engage said at least a portion of the object.
