Claims
- 1. A method for making up ready to use doses of animal semen, comprising the following steps:
- supplying into a filler station an empty sachet made of two films of thermoplastic material welded together by a weld delimiting a pocket to which a filler tube extended by a funnel is connected, said sachet having an upper edge and said filler tube and said funnel being located beneath said upper edge;
- inserting a free end of a tubular needle connected to a tank of semen into said filler tube;
- filling the pocket of said sachet with semen;
- removing the free end of the tubular needle from the filler tube and said funnel;
- welding said dose by making an inverted U-shaped sealing weld having branches which intersect a part of said weld delimiting said funnel in its widest part; and
- making an incision approximately perpendicular to the branches of said inverted U-shape sealing weld that does not extend to any edge of said sachet and does not reach said funnel and that has a length sufficient for a finger to be inserted into said incision to facilitate tearing of the films and opening of said sachet.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein the free end of said tubular needle is the free end of a nozzle slidably mounted inside a cleaning ring and said free end removing step comprises removing the tubular needle from the filler tube so that no residue of semen remains on the outside of said nozzle after said free end of said nozzle has reached the free end of said ring.
- 3. A method according to claim 1, wherein said funnel has a widest part and said incision making step comprises making said incision above the widest part of said funnel.
- 4. A method according to claim 1, wherein said incision making step comprises making the incision so that its ends are at a distance from a side edge of a dose and from said sealing weld.
- 5. A method for making up ready to use doses of animal semen, comprising the following steps:
- supplying into a filler station an empty sachet made of two films of thermoplastics material welded together by a weld delimiting a pocket to which a filler tube extended by a funnel is connected;
- providing a cleaning ring having a small diameter portion;
- positioning said cleaning ring so that said small diameter portion extends through an opening in a top portion of said sachet and between said two thermoplastic material films;
- inserting a free end of a tubular needle connected to a tank of semen into said filler tube;
- said inserting step comprising passing said tubular needle through an opening in said small diameter portion;
- filling the pocket of said sachet with said semen;
- removing the free end of the tubular needle from the sachet;
- said removing step comprising wiping the free end of said tubular needle free of any droplets of semen residue by withdrawing said needle through said opening in said small diameter portion; and
- sealing said sachet by welding said films in the area of said funnel,
- whereby said wiping step prevents residual semen from interfering with said funnel sealing step.
