Claims
- 1. An imaging process consisting essentially of (1) charging an imaging member in an imaging apparatus; (2) creating on the member a latent image comprising areas of high, intermediate, and low potential; (3) developing the low areas of potential with a first developer comprising carrier and a toner comprised of resin, pigment, and a charge enhancing additive; (4) developing the high areas of potential with a second developer comprising carrier and a second toner comprised of resin, pigment, and a charge enhancing additive; (5) transferring the resulting developed image to a substrate; (6) fixing the image thereto; and (7) cleaning residual toner from said imaging member and wherein there is selected for cleaning a magnetic brush consisting essentially of carrier particles, a magnetic roll, and biased detone roll with scraper, and wherein the carrier particles are treated with a metal oxide.
- 2. A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein the low and high areas of potential are developed by a conductive magnetic brush development system.
- 3. A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein the imaging member is comprised of a layered organic photoreceptor.
- 4. A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein the high level of potential is from about -750 to about -850 volts, the intermediate level of potential is from about -350 to about -450 volts, and the low level of potential is from about -100 to about -180 volts.
- 5. A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein the carrier particles are selected from the group consisting of steel, iron, and ferrite components, and wherein the metal oxide is selected from the group consisting of titanium dioxide, tin oxide and aluminum oxide.
- 6. A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein the metal oxide is present as a coating on the carrier particles.
- 7. A process in accordance with claim 6 wherein the metal oxide coating is present in a thickness of about 300 Angstroms.
- 8. A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein the carrier particles contain a polymeric coating thereover, and which coating is applied to the carrier prior to the coating thereof with said metal oxide.
- 9. An imaging process consisting essentially of (1) charging an imaging member in an imaging apparatus; (2) creating on the member a latent image comprising areas of high, intermediate, and low potential; (3) developing the low areas of potential with a first developer comprising carrier and a toner comprised of resin, pigment, and a charge enhancing additive; (4) developing the high areas of potential with a second developer comprising carrier and a second toner comprised of resin, pigment, and a charge enhancing additive; (5) transferring the resulting developed image to a substrate; (6) fixing the image thereto, wherein the improvement resides in selecting a magnetic brush for cleaning which magnetic brush consists essentially of carrier particles, and a magnetic roll, and a biased detone roll with a scraper; and wherein the carrier particles are treated or coated with a metal oxide.
