Claims
- 1. A pneumohydraulic positioning device comprising:
- at least one magnetoconducting cylinder partitioned into at least two chambers by a partition, wherein one chamber contains a magnetorheological fluid, and a second chamber contains a gas;
- a pulley unit, wherein one end of the unit is attached to the partition, and a second end of the unit is attached to a carriage;
- an actuator attached to the carriage;
- at least one magnetorheological valve coupled with the chamber of the magnetoconducting cylinder containing magnetorheological fluid for varying the viscosity of magnetorheological fluid flowing through said valve;
- a source of compressed gas coupled with the chamber of the magnetoconducting cylinder containing a gas; and
- a program control device coupled with the pulley unit, the source of compressed gas, and the magnetorheological valve.
- 2. An exercise machine comprising:
- at least one magnetoconducting cylinder partitioned into at least two chambers by a piston head, wherein one chamber contains a magnetorheological fluid, and a second chamber contains a gas;
- a load-carrying rod extending through the magnetoconducting cylinder from the piston head to a point external to the magnetoconducting cylinder; and
- at least one magnetotheological valve connected to the chamber of the magnetoconducting cylinder containing magnetorheological fluid for varying the viscosity of magnetorheological fluid flowing through said valve.
- 3. A vibration damping system comprising:
- a lever system, supporting a vibrating load, connected to a base by a support pillar;
- an elastic coupling connected to the lever system and the base;
- at least one magnetorheological load-bearing element positioned between the lever system and the base, said element including a hydraulic cavity containing magnetorheological fluid; and
- a magnetorheological valve connected with the hydraulic cavity of the magnetorheological load-bearing element for varying the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid flowing through said valve.
- 4. A pneumohydraulic drive, comprising:
- two main cylinders, each partitioned into two chambers by a partition wherein one chamber contains a magnetorheological fluid and the other chamber contains a gas;
- a hydraulic system connected to the chambers of said cylinders containing magnetorheological fluid, said hydraulic system including an hydraulic accumulator and at least one magnetorheological valve for varying the viscosity of magnetorheological fluid flowing through said valve;
- a flexible member having one end connected to one of said partitions and an opposite end connected to the other of said partitions; and
- a carriage connected to said flexible member.
