Claims
- 1. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising the steps of:
- determining a desired driving torque of the vehicle required by a driver based on a detected value of accelerator pedal stroke, said desired driving torque being a torque to be output by the transmission; and
- coordinating a determination of engine torque and a determination of gear ratio by mutual communication between a means for calculating engine torque and a means for calculating a gear ratio so as to calculate an appropriate combination of engine torque and gear ratio to be able to attain the desired driving torque in response to the detected value of the driver's accelerator pedal stroke.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein said gear ratio and engine torque are determined so as to drive the engine substantially within a smallest fuel-cost ratio region based on the determined desired driving torque.
- 3. A method according to claim 1, wherein said desired driving torque is determined based on the detected value of said accelerator pedal stroke and a detected value of a vehicle speed.
- 4. A method according to claim 2, wherein said desired driving torque is determined based on the detected value of said accelerator pedal stroke and a detected value of a vehicle speed.
- 5. A method according to claim 1, wherein the gear ratio and the engine torque continue to be determined by mutual communication between the means for calculating engine torque and the means for calculating a gear ratio on the basis of the determined desired driving torque at a time of changing a gear ratio so as to maintain the desired driving torque.
- 6. A method according to claim 1, wherein the coordination of determining engine torque and gear ratio is performed through a local area network connecting the engine torque calculating means with the gear ratio calculating means.
- 7. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising:
- means for determining a desired driving torque of the vehicle required by a driver based on a detected value of accelerator pedal stroke, said desired driving torque being a torque to be output by the transmission; and
- means for coordinating a determination of engine torque and a determination of gear ratio by mutual communication between a means for calculating engine torque and a means for calculating a gear ratio so as to calculate an appropriate combination of engine torque and gear ratio to be able to attain the desired driving torque in response to the detected value of the driver's accelerator pedal stroke.
- 8. Apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said gear ratio and engine torque are determined so as to drive the engine substantially within a smallest fuel-cost ratio region based on the determined desired driving torque.
- 9. Apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said desired driving torque is determined based on the detected value of said accelerator pedal stroke and a detected value of a vehicle speed.
- 10. Apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said desired driving torque is determined based on the detected value of said accelerator pedal stroke and a detected value of a vehicle speed.
- 11. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the gear ratio and the engine torque continue to be determined by mutual communication between the means for calculating engine torque and the means for calculating a gear ratio on the basis of the determined desired driving torque at a time of changing a gear ratio so as to maintain the desired driving torque.
- 12. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the means for coordinating the determination of engine torque and gear ratio is performed through a local-area-network connecting the engine torque calculating means with the gear ratio calculating means.
- 13. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising the step of:
- controlling an engine torque of the engine to restrain a step change between a first driving torque of an output shaft of the transmission at a start of a gear change and a second driving torque of the output shaft of the transmission at the end of the gear change.
- 14. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising:
- means for controlling an engine torque of the engine to restrain a step change between a first driving torque of an output shaft of the transmission at a start of a gear change and a second driving torque of the output shaft of the transmission at the end of the gear change.
- 15. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising the steps of:
- determining a desired driving torque of the vehicle required by a driver based on a detected value of accelerator pedal stroke;
- determining a first signal identifying air-fuel ratio in response to a second signal identifying detected parameters of the vehicle;
- determining an engine torque based on the determined desire driving torque and the first signal; and
- determining a gear ratio of the transmission based on the determined desired driving torque.
- 16. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising:
- means for determining a desired driving torque of the vehicle required by a driver based on a detected value of accelerator pedal stroke;
- means for determining a first signal identifying air-fuel ratio in response to a second signal identifying detected parameters of the vehicle;
- means for determining an engine torque based on the determined desired driving torque and the first signal; and
- means for determining a gear ratio of the transmission based on the determined desired driving torque.
- 17. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising the steps of:
- determining a deceleration value desired by a driver; and
- controlling a gear ratio and a throttle valve opening such that actual deceleration value is controlled to be said deceleration value desired by the driver.
- 18. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 17, wherein said deceleration value desired by the driver is determined in accordance with a brake pedal stroke.
- 19. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 17, wherein said throttle valve opening is controlled so as to restrain gear-shifting shock.
- 20. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 17, wherein said throttle valve opening is controlled after gear-shifting.
- 21. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising:
- means for determining a deceleration value desired by a driver; and
- means for controlling a gear ratio and a throttle valve opening such that actual deceleration value is controlled to be the deceleration value desired by the driver.
- 22. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 21, wherein said deceleration value desired by the driver is determined in accordance with a brake pedal stroke.
- 23. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 21, wherein said throttle valve opening is controlled so as to restrain gear-shifting shock.
- 24. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 21, wherein said throttle valve opening is controlled after gear-shifting.
- 25. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising the step of:
- controlling an engine torque of the engine to restrain a step change between a first driving torque of an output shaft of the transmission at a start of a transmission speed ratio change and a second driving torque of the output shaft of the transmission at the end of the transmission speed ratio change, wherein the engine torque is changed so that an actual driving torque becomes a target value of the driving torque represented by a stroke of an accelerator pedal.
- 26. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising:
- means for controlling an engine torque of the engine to restrain a step change between a first driving torque of an output shaft of the transmission at a start of a transmission speed ratio change and a second driving torque of the output shaft of the transmission at the end of the transmission speed ratio change, wherein the engine torque is changed so that an actual driving torque becomes a target value of the driving torque represented by a stroke of an accelerator pedal.
- 27. An apparatus according to claim 26, further comprising means for changing the engine torque by changing an opening degree of a throttle valve of the engine.
- 28. An apparatus according to claim 26, further comprising means for controlling the engine torque so that the driving torque is constant during the transmission speed ratio change of the transmission.
- 29. An apparatus according to claim 27, further comprising means for controlling the engine torque so that the driving torque is constant during the transmission speed ratio change of the transmission.
- 30. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising the steps of:
- determining a desired driving torque of the vehicle required by a driver based on a detected value of accelerator pedal stroke;
- determining a first signal identifying air-fuel ratio in response to a second signal identifying detecting parameters of the vehicle;
- determining an engine torque based on the determined desire driving torque and the first signal;
- determining a transmission speed ratio of the transmission based on the determined desired driving torque; and
- changing the engine torque so that an actual driving torque becomes a target value of the driving torque represented by the accelerator pedal stroke.
- 31. A method according to claim 30, further comprising the step of changing the engine torque by changing an opening degree of a throttle valve of the engine.
- 32. A method according to claim 30, further comprising controlling the engine torque so that the driving torque is constant during the transmission speed ratio change of the transmission.
- 33. A method according to claim 31, further comprising controlling the engine torque so that the driving torque is constant during the transmission speed ratio change of the transmission.
- 34. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising:
- means for determining a desired driving torque of the vehicle required by a driver based on a detected value of accelerator pedal stroke;
- means for determining a first signal identifying air-fuel ratio in response to a second signal identifying detected parameters of the vehicle;
- means for determining an engine torque based on the determined desired driving torque and the first signal;
- means for determining a transmission speed ratio of the transmission based on the determined desired driving torque; and
- means for changing the engine torque so that an actual driving torque becomes a target value of the driving torque represented by the accelerator pedal stroke.
- 35. An apparatus according to claim 34, further comprising means for changing the engine torque by changing an opening degree of a throttle valve of the engine.
- 36. An apparatus according to claim 34, further comprising means for controlling the engine torque so that the driving torque is constant during the transmission speed ratio change of the transmission.
- 37. An apparatus according to claim 35, further comprising means for controlling the engine torque so that the driving torque is constant during the transmission speed ratio change of the transmission.
- 38. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising the steps of:
- determining a deceleration value desired by a driver; and
- controlling a transmission speed ratio and a throttle valve opening such that actual deceleration value is controlled to be said deceleration value desired by the driver.
- 39. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 38, wherein said deceleration value desired by the driver is determined in accordance with a brake pedal stroke.
- 40. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 38, wherein said throttle value opening is controlled so as to restrain a step changing shock of the transmission speed ratio.
- 41. A method for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 38, wherein said throttle valve opening is controlled after a change transmission speed ratio.
- 42. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle having a transmission coupled to an engine, comprising:
- means for determining a deceleration value desired by a driver; and
- means for controlling a transmission speed ratio and a throttle valve opening such that actual deceleration value is controlled to be the deceleration value desired by the driver.
- 43. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 42, wherein said deceleration value desired by the driver is determined in accordance with a brake pedal stroke.
- 44. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 42, wherein said throttle valve opening is controlled so as to restrain a step changing shock of the transmission speed ratio.
- 45. Apparatus for controlling driving power of a vehicle according to claim 42, wherein said throttle valve opening is controlled after a change transmission speed ratio.
- 46. A method according to claim 44, further comprising the step of changing the engine torque by changing an opening degree of a throttle valve of the engine.
- 47. A method according to claim 44, further comprising controlling the engine torque so that the driving torque is constant during the transmission speed ratio change of the transmission.
- 48. A method according to claim 46, further comprising controlling the engine torque so that the driving torque is constant during the transmission speed ratio change of the transmission.
