Claims
- 1. An apparatus for detecting an eavesdropper listening to a channel comprising:a switch having a first input coupled to a first channel, a second input coupled to a second channel, a first output coupled to said first channel, a second output coupled to said second channel, wherein a first switch channel is provided between said first input and said first output, wherein a second switch channel is provided between said second input and said second output, and wherein said switch has a finite amount of isolation between said first switch channel and said second switch channel; an optical processing unit having a first input coupled to said first input of said switch, a second input coupled to said second input of said switch, a third input coupled to a first output of said switch, and a fourth input coupled to said second output of said switch; and an electrical processing unit having an input coupled to an output of said optical processing unit and having an output coupled to an alarm port of said apparatus.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said optical processing unit subtracts the signal from said first input from said signal from said third input to determine a crosstalk signal from said second channel propagating on said first channel.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said optical processing unit subtracts the signal from said second input from said signal from said fourth input to determine a crosstalk signal from said first channel propagating on said second channel.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a network management system having an input port coupled to said electronic processing unit.
