Claims
- 1. An apparatus for removing an image forming substance from an image holding medium having at least a surface thereof on which the image forming substance is deposited, comprising:
- an image removing unit for removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- a fiber orientation sensing member located upstream of said image removing unit in a direction in which the image holding medium is transported, for sensing an orientation of fibers of the image holding medium; and
- a control member for controlling said image removing unit based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensing member.
- 2. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said image removing unit comprises an image removing member and a rotating member for rotating the image holding medium, wherein the image holding medium is rotated by said rotating member based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensing member, and then conveyed to said image removing member.
- 3. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- an agent applying member for applying or not applying, at least to said image holding medium, an unstabilizing agent for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium, depending on the fiber orientation; of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensing member, and
- an image removing member for removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium.
- 4. The apparatus as claimed in claim 3, further comprising a stocker for storing the image forming medium to which the unstabilizing agent is not applied.
- 5. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- an agent applying member for applying at least to said image holding medium an unstabilizing agent for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium;
- an image removing member for removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium; and
- an application control member for controlling an amount of the unstabilizing agent applied by said agent applying member based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensing member.
- 6. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- a liquid applying member for applying at least to said holding medium an unstabilizing liquid for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium;
- an image removing member for removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- a drying member for drying the image holding medium wetted by the unstabilizing liquid applied by said liquid applying member; and
- a drying condition control member for controlling a drying condition of said drying member based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensing member.
- 7. An apparatus for removing an image forming substance from an image holding medium having at least a surface thereof on which the image forming substance is deposited, comprising:
- an image removing unit for removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- a thickness sensing member located upstream of said image removing unit in a direction in which the image holding medium is transported, for sensing a thickness of the image holding medium; and
- a control member for controlling said image removing unit based on the thickness sensed by said thickness sensing member.
- 8. The apparatus as claimed in claim 7, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- an agent applying member for applying or not applying, at least to said image holding medium, an unstabilizing agent for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium, depending on the thickness of fibers sensed by said thickness sensing member, and
- an image removing member for removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium.
- 9. The apparatus as claimed in claim 8, further comprising a stocker for storing the image forming medium to which the unstabilizing agent is not applied.
- 10. The apparatus as claimed in claim 7, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- an agent applying member for applying at least to said image holding medium an unstabilizing agent for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium;
- an image removing member for removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium; and
- an application control member for controlling an amount of the unstabilizing agent applied by said agent applying member based on the thickness sensed by said thickness sensing member.
- 11. The apparatus as claimed in claim 7, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- a liquid applying member for applying at least to said holding medium an unstabilizing liquid for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium;
- an image removing member for removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- a drying member for drying the image holding medium wetted by the unstabilizing liquid applied by said liquid applying member; and
- a drying condition control member for controlling an amount of drying performed by said drying member based on the thickness sensed by said thickness sensing member.
- 12. A method of removing an image forming substance deposited on an image forming medium, comprising the steps of:
- determining a fiber orientation of the image holding medium;
- controlling an image removing unit based on the orientation of fibers determined in said determining step; and
- removing said image forming substance from the image holding medium via said image removing unit.
- 13. The method according to claim 12, wherein said step of removing said image forming substance comprises the substeps of:
- rotating said image holding medium based upon the orientation of fibers determined in said determining step;
- conveying said image removing member to the image removing unit; and
- removing said image forming substance from the image holding medium via said image removing unit.
- 14. The method according to claim 12, wherein:
- said step of removing said image forming substance comprises the substeps of,
- applying at least to said image holding medium an unstabilizing agent for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium, and
- removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium; and
- said step of controlling said image removing unit comprises the substep of preventing application of the unstabilizing agent to the image holding medium, depending upon determination of a predetermined orientation of fibers in said determining step.
- 15. The method according to claim 14, further comprising the step of storing the image forming medium to which the unstabilizing agent is not applied in a stocker.
- 16. The method according to claim 12, wherein said step of removing the image forming substance comprises the substeps of:
- applying at least to said image holding medium an unstabilizing agent for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium;
- controlling an amount of the unstabilizing agent applied based on the orientation of fibers determined by said determining step; and
- removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium.
- 17. The method according to claim 12, wherein said step of removing the image forming substance comprises the substeps of:
- applying at least to said holding medium an unstabilizing liquid for unstabilizing adhesion the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium;
- removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- drying the image holding medium wetted by the unstabilizing liquid applied at said applying step; and
- controlling an amount of drying performed by said drying step based on the orientation of fibers determined in said determining step.
- 18. A method of removing an image forming substance from an image forming medium, comprising the steps of:
- determining a thickness of the image holding medium;
- controlling an image removing unit based on the thickness determined in said determining step; and
- removing said image forming substance from the image holding medium via said image removing unit.
- 19. The method according to claim 18, wherein:
- said step of removing said image forming substance comprises the substeps of,
- applying at least to said image holding medium an unstabilizing agent for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium, and
- removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium; and
- said step of controlling said image removing unit comprises the substep of preventing application of the unstabilizing agent to the image holding medium, depending upon determination of a predetermined thickness in said determining step.
- 20. The method according to claim 18, further comprising the step of storing the image forming medium to which the unstabilizing agent is not applied in a stocker.
- 21. The method according to claim 18, wherein said step of removing the image forming substance comprises the substeps of:
- applying at least to said image holding medium an unstabilizing agent for unstabilizing adhesion between the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium;
- controlling an amount of the unstabilizing agent applied based on the thickness determined by said determining step; and
- removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium.
- 22. The method according to claim 18, wherein said step of removing the image forming substance comprises the substeps of:
- applying at least to said holding medium an unstabilizing liquid for unstabilizing adhesion the image holding medium and the image forming substance deposited on the image holding medium;
- removing the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- drying the image holding medium wetted by the unstabilizing liquid applied at said applying step; and
- controlling an amount of drying performed in said drying step based on the thickness determined in said determining step.
- 23. An apparatus for removing an image forming substance from a surface of a moving image holding medium, comprising:
- an image removing unit;
- a fiber orientation sensor located upstream of said image removing unit in a direction of movement of the image holding medium; and
- a controller constructed and positioned to receive signals from said fiber orientation sensor, said controller being operatively connected to said image removing unit and controlling said image removing unit based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensor.
- 24. The apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein said image removing unit comprises a rotating member constructed and positioned to rotate the image holding medium based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensor, and an image removing part receiving the rotated image holding medium.
- 25. The apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- an agent applying member constructed and positioned to selectively apply an unstabilizing agent to the image holding medium in dependence on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensor, and
- an image removing part constructed and positioned to remove the image forming substance from the image holding medium.
- 26. The apparatus as claimed in claim 25, further comprising a stocker constructed and positioned to store the image forming medium to which the unstabilizing agent is not applied.
- 27. The apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- an agent applying member constructed and positioned to apply an unstabilizing agent to the image holding medium;
- an image removing part constructed and positioned to remove the image forming substance from the image holding medium; and
- an application control member constructed and positioned to control an amount of the unstabilizing agent applied by said agent applying member based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensor.
- 28. The apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- a liquid applying member constructed and positioned to apply an unstabilizing liquid to the image holding medium;
- an image removing member constructed and positioned to remove the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- a drying member constructed and positioned to dry the image holding medium wetted by the unstabilizing liquid applied by said liquid applying member; and
- a drying condition controller constructed and positioned to control a drying condition of said drying member based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensor.
- 29. An apparatus for removing an image forming substance from a surface of a moving image holding medium, comprising:
- an image removing unit constructed and positioned to remove the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- a thickness sensor located upstream of said image removing unit in a direction of movement of the image holding medium, the thickness sensor being constructed and positioned to sense a thickness of the image holding medium; and
- a controller constructed and positioned to receive signals from the thickness sensor and to control said image removing unit based on the sensed thickness of the image holding medium.
- 30. The apparatus as claimed in claim 29, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- an agent applying member constructed and positioned to selectively apply an unstabilizing agent to the image holding medium in dependence on the thickness of fibers sensed by said thickness sensor, and
- an image removing part constructed and positioned to remove the image forming substance from the image holding medium.
- 31. The apparatus as claimed in claim 30, further comprising a stocker constructed and positioned to store the image forming medium to which the unstabilizing agent is not applied.
- 32. The apparatus as claimed in claim 29, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- an agent applying member constructed and positioned to apply an unstabilizing agent to the image holding medium;
- an image removing part constructed and positioned to remove the image forming substance from the image holding medium; and
- an application control member constructed and positioned to control an amount of the unstabilizing agent applied by said agent applying member based on the thickness of fibers sensed by said thickness sensor.
- 33. The apparatus as claimed in claim 29, wherein said image removing unit comprises:
- a liquid applying member constructed and positioned to apply an unstabilizing liquid to the image holding medium;
- an image removing member constructed and positioned to remove the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- a drying member constructed and positioned to dry the image holding medium wetted by the unstabilizing liquid applied by said liquid applying member; and
- a drying condition controller constructed and positioned to control a drying condition of said drying member based on the thickness of fibers sensed by said thickness sensor.
- 34. An apparatus for removing an image forming substance from a surface of a moving image holding medium, comprising:
- an image removing unit;
- a fiber orientation sensor located upstream of said image removing unit in a direction of movement of the image holding medium, wherein said image removing unit comprises an agent applying member constructed and positioned to selectively apply an unstabilizing agent to the image holding medium in dependence on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensor, and an image removing part constructed and positioned to remove the image forming substance from the image holding medium;
- a controller constructed and positioned to receive signals from said fiber orientation sensor, said controller being operatively connected to said image removing unit and controlling said image removing unit based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensor;
- a stocker constructed and positioned to store the image forming medium to which the unstabilizing agent is not applied;
- a drying member constructed and positioned to dry the image holding medium wetted by the unstabilizing liquid applied by said liquid applying member; and
- a drying condition controller constructed and positioned to control a drying condition of said drying member based on the orientation of fibers sensed by said fiber orientation sensor.
