- 11. A machine-readable medium comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon to:
provide a broadcast segment as part of an interactive television transmission, the broadcast segment having supplemental information; use a first command sent from a user input device to initiate a transaction related to the supplemental information in the broadcast segment; and complete the transaction, subsequent to completion of displaying of the broadcast segment, in response to a second command received from the user input device.
- 12. The machine-readable medium of claim 11, further comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon to:
store the supplemental information in a storage location during the displaying of the broadcast segment; if completion of the transaction is deferred subsequent to receiving the first command, retrieve the stored supplemental information from the storage location in response to the second command received from the user input device; and use the retrieved supplemental information to complete the transaction.
- 13. The machine-readable medium of claim 12, further comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon to:
in response to the second command received from the user input device, provide the user input device with additional information related to the transaction from a network; and use the additional information and data subsequently received from the user input device to complete the transaction.
- 14. The machine-readable medium of claim 11, further comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon to:
transmit a portion of the product supplemental information or information related to the transaction for display on the user input device instead of on a display screen that displays the broadcast segment.
- 15. The machine-readable medium of claim 11, further comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon to:
in response to receiving the first command from the user input device, conduct the transaction during the displaying of the broadcast segment; if the transaction is incomplete prior to completion of the displaying of the broadcast segment, defer the transaction and provide a regular program subsequent to completion of the displaying of the broadcast segment; and use the second command received from the user input device to complete the transaction during a displaying of the regular program or during a displaying of another broadcast segment.
- 16. An apparatus, comprising:
a transceiver to receive supplemental information related to a broadcast segment sent as a part of an interactive television transmission; a storage medium to store the received supplemental information; and a processor to process the supplemental information stored in the storage medium, the processor being responsive to user input to control the transceiver to send a first command to initiate a transaction related to the stored supplemental information, and to control the transceiver to send a second command to complete the transaction, subsequent to completion of display of the broadcast segment, based on the stored supplemental information.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 16, further comprising a control from which the user input is received by the processor.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the transceiver receives the supplemental information from a client terminal coupled to receive the broadcast segment and the interactive television transmission.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 16, further comprising a display coupled to the processor to display at least a portion of the supplemental information or other information related to the transaction, wherein the supplemental information or the other information is displayable on the display instead of on another display that displays the broadcast segment.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the transceiver comprises a wireless communication transceiver.
- 21. A client apparatus for an interactive television system, the client apparatus comprising:
a communication interface to provide a broadcast segment having supplemental information as part of an interactive television transmission; a processor responsive to a first command received via the communication interface from a user input device to initiate a transaction related to the supplemental information in the broadcast segment; and a storage unit to store user input data received via the communication interface and related to the transaction, the user input data being storable during at least while the broadcast segment is provided from the communication interface, the processor being capable to read the stored user input data and to trigger completion of the transaction, subsequent to completion of displaying of the broadcast segment and in response to a second command received from the user input device via the communication interface.
- 22. The client apparatus of claim 21 wherein the communication interface is coupled to provide transaction information to a head end.
- 23. The client apparatus of claim 21 wherein the communication interface is coupled to provide transaction information to a content source.
- 24. The client apparatus of claim 21 wherein, in response to the second command received from the user input device, the processor is capable to:
retrieve additional information related to the transaction from the storage unit or from a network communicatively coupleable to the transceiver; control the communication interface to send the additional information to the user input device; and use the additional information and data subsequently received from the user input device via the communication interface to complete the transaction.
