DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are described below in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which various details of the embodiments of the present disclosure are included to facilitate understanding, and are to be considered as exemplary only. Accordingly, one of ordinary skill in the art will recognize that various changes and modifications may be made to the embodiments described herein without departing from the scope and spirit of the present disclosure. Also, for clarity and conciseness, descriptions of well-known functions and structures are omitted from the following description.

In conventional autonomous parking solutions, the parking routes are associated with a particular parking area. An autonomous parking route trained in one parking area is almost unusable in another parking area. If it is needed to determine the parking route of a vehicle in a certain parking area, it is necessary to perform the learning and training process in the parking area in advance so as to determine a parking route specific to the parking area. Thus, it is necessary to obtain a large number of parameters of the parking area in advance.

However, this solution not only wastes time and resources, but also is not efficient in use. On the one hand, if parking area information is not obtained and the learning is not trained in advance, the automatic parking will not be available in this parking area. On the other hand, even if the information of the parking area is acquired, if the usage rate of the parking area is low, the value of such parking area information is low, and a large amount of redundant information is generated over the time.

In view of the above problems, embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for autonomous parking. Embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below in conjunction with FIGS. 1-6.

FIG. 1 illustrates an illustrative diagram of an example environment 100 in which various embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented. As shown in FIG. 1, in the environment 100, the vehicle 110 is driving on a target site 120, such as a parking area, which may be an outdoor parking area or an indoor parking area. In some embodiments, the vehicle 110 may be a vehicle 110 equipped with a certain autonomous parking capability, where the autonomous driving capability may include, but is not limited to, an auxiliary driving capability, a semi-autonomous driving capability, a high autonomous driving capability, or a full autonomous driving capability.

In the context of the present disclosure, the term autonomous parking may refer not only to the process of parking the vehicle in the appropriate parking position, but also to the cruising process before the parking. The vehicle 110 may acquire multiple real-time images of the surrounding environment by an image capture device 112 fixed or mounted thereon. The image capture device 112 includes at least one sensor. In some embodiments, the image capture device 112 may be a camera having one or more wide or ultra-wide angles capable of capturing scenes within 360 degrees of the surrounding environment.

The computing device 150 may be a remote server or a cloud that may be trained according to various data including the target route data 130 and the historical route data set 140, as well as a machine learning model. For example, the computing device 150 may project trajectory point data of a human driver's driving onto each captured image, input the image into a machine learning model, and then output a trajectory point projected on the image. In other words, what the computing device 150 learns is a mapping of an image of the environment to a particular driving trajectory point. It's understandable that the historical route data set 140 includes a plurality of route data that has been captured in a known plurality of scenes.

An example of a machine learning model may be a neural network model, such as a Convolutional Neural Network model (CNN), a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), etc. The computing device 150 may perform the processes described herein with reference to FIGS. 2-6 to make the mapping more accurate to obtain the final target route planning model 160.

FIG. 2 illustrates a flow diagram of a method 200 for autonomous parking according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. The method 200 may be performed by various types of computing devices.

At block 202, a recommended driving route for autonomous parking is determined. This recommended driving route is a relatively coarse route compared to the final driving trajectory point, which plans a sequence of approximate driving routes for autonomous parking. In some embodiments, the recommended driving route may be determined based on the start point and the end point of the vehicle and in accordance with the situation in the parking area. In some embodiments, a navigation module may be utilized to plan a route for the vehicle. These routes may be selected according to the preferences of the user, for example, a route with a shorter distance may be selected. In an alternative embodiment, the recommended driving route may also be planned based on a tendency to avoid congestion. In this way, it is possible to adapt the vehicle to different needs of individual users, which can effectively expand the scope of application of the solution of the present disclosure.

In some embodiments, the recommended driving route may include a sequence consisting of left turn, right turn, and/or go straight. For example, as shown in FIG. 3, a driving route P as shown in FIG. 3 is planned between the start point A and the end point B. In the illustrated scenario, this driving route P includes the following sequence: [straight line 1, left turn 1, straight line 2, right turn 1, and straight line 3]. As shown, straight line 1 represents the first straight-line route from point S1 to point S2. Similarly, straight line 2 represents a second straight line route from point S3 to point S4, and straight line 3 represents a third straight line route from point S5 to point S6. Similarly, it can be seen from the figure that the left turn 1 represents the route of the first left turn from the point L1 to the point L2, and the right turn 1 represents the route of the first right turn from the point R1 to the point R2. Through such a sequence, the vehicle can drive from the start point A to the end point B.

Referring back to FIG. 2, at block 204, the position of the vehicle in the recommended driving route is determined. Since the recommended driving route may be a sequence consisting of left turn, right turn and/or straight line, determining the position of the vehicle in the recommended driving route is to determine which segment of the sequence the vehicle shall follow to operate. In some embodiments, the position of the vehicle in the recommended driving route may be determined based on navigation information of the vehicle or simultaneous localization and mapping information. The navigation information may be acquired via the Global Positioning System (GPS), the BeiDou System (BDS), the GLONASS, or the Galileo. The Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) enables the vehicle to perform self-positioning according to the position estimation and the map during the moving process, and meanwhile constructing an incremental map on the basis of the self-positioning, thereby realizing self-positioning and navigation of the vehicle. Referring to FIG. 3, for example, if the navigation information of the vehicle or the SLAM information determines that the vehicle is currently at point C in the recommended driving route, it can be determined that the vehicle needs three steps to reach the end point B, that is, [straight line 2, right turn 1, and straight line 3].

With continued reference to FIG. 2, in block 206, it is determined whether the position of the vehicle is in the first road environment. In some embodiments, the first road environment may include one or more road environments of an intersection, a T-shaped intersection, a bend, and a road endpoint. In this manner, the autonomous parking method according to embodiments of the present disclosure is applicable to various road environments. Thus, the method can be applied to various use scenarios.

It will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that any suitable manner may be employed to determine whether the position of the vehicle is in the first road environment. In some embodiments, an image capture device mounted on a vehicle may be utilized and an image processing module may be utilized to determine whether the vehicle is in the first road environment. The image capture device may be fixed at any desired position of the vehicle, and image information of the surrounding environment of the vehicle can be acquired. In some implementations, upon receipt of such image information, the image information is identified by an image processing module associated with the vehicle to determine whether the environment in which the vehicle is located is a first road environment. For example, the vehicle environment may be determined by comparing the image processing model with the pre-stored historical image information. In some implementations, for the scenario where signs are provided on both sides of the road, the signs may be captured by an image capture device mounted on the vehicle to determine that the vehicle is in the first road environment directly. The signs may be signposts indicating that the current road is an intersection or signposts indicating that the front is the end of the road. In other implementations, other manners may be used to determine the environment in which the vehicle is located. For example, it may be determined whether the vehicle is in the first road environment by using the indication information sent by the roadside device at the position where the vehicle is located.

Referring back to FIG. 2, at block 208, in response to determining that the vehicle is in the first road environment, a driving trajectory point of the vehicle in the first road environment is determined based on the pre-trained driving model and according to the acquired image information of the first road environment. This may be achieved by a deep learning convolutional network.

In some embodiments, the driving model may be trained based on historical images related to the first road environment and human driving routes related to the first road environment. Since the same type of road environment is taken as a set in the convolutional neural network model, the driving trajectory points within the set can be obtained by continuous learning of the model. For example, taking various road environments suitable for left turn as the same set, during pre-training, images of various specific road environments and specific driving trajectory points in which a person in the road environment turns left are inputted to a convolutional neural network model and are associated with each other. And then, by continuous supervising and learning, the convolutional neural network model may know which driving trajectory points should be used in a similar left turn road environment. Since the output result of the convolutional neural network model will become more accurate with the increase of the training samples, the more times the user uses, the more data the model can be trained, and the convolutional neural network model can be updated, thereby making the future driving trajectory point more accurate.

According to the embodiments of the present disclosure, various routes are divided into three driving status: go straight, left turn and right turn, and the model learns the route planning capability of the three driving status under different road conditions. Accordingly, it selects, based on the image information of the intersection, an appropriate left turn, right turn or straight route. Thus, the convolutional network is not learning a specific driving route. In this manner, it is possible to disassociate the driving route with the specific driving environment. Therefore, when a vehicle arrives in a parking area that has never been there, it is not necessary to train in the parking area in advance, thus it is possible to perform autonomous driving before parking by the method of the present disclosure without prior training in this parking area.

According to the technical solution of the embodiment of the present disclosure, the driving route is divided into a small driving environment in which the driving route determination needs to be performed and a straight driving environment in which the driving route determination does not need to be performed, so that the data training network does not need to be re-collected to reduce the time and resource cost, and the unbinding with a specific parking area can be realized, so that the generalization degree can be improved.

Referring to FIG. 4, there is shown an illustrative determination process of the vehicle at position T of FIG. 3. When the vehicle gets to the position T in the recommended driving route of FIG. 2, it is determined that the vehicle is currently in the first road environment at the intersection based on the image information captured by the camera on the vehicle. Here, the convolutional neural network model outputs four branches X1, X2, X3, and X4, where three branches X2, X3, and X4 output a route planning structure of a left turn, a straight line, and a right turn, respectively, and the other branch X1 outputs a vector having a length of 1, indicating whether the vehicle is currently in a first road environment that is an intersection. As can be seen in connection with the sequence of recommended driving routes in FIG. 3, the vehicle should perform a right turn operation at position T, rather than a left turn or go straight operation. The convolutional neural network model can finally determine that the specific driving trajectory point of the vehicle should be right turn at the position T according to the pre-trained driving model.

In some embodiments, the start point of the vehicle may be the position at which the vehicle enters the autonomous parking mode. As a result, as long as the vehicle is determined to enter the automatic parking mode, the position at which the vehicle is located at this time is set as the start point of the recommended running route. Thus, the degree of autonomy of the parking operation can be improved without additional manual input or determination. The endpoint of the recommended driving route may be a destination position suitable for vehicle parking. In an alternative embodiment, various schemes may be employed to determine the position at which the vehicle can be parked, the particular scheme being not limited by the embodiments of the present disclosure.

In some embodiments, the vehicle's driving trajectory point in the first road environment may include a left turn driving trajectory point, a right turn driving trajectory point, or a straight-line driving trajectory point. It will be appreciated that the left or right turn here includes turning actions of various radius of curvature. For example, when the road environment is an intersection where a turning is required, the left or right turn may be an action with a smaller radius of curvature. When the road environment is a bend such as a traffic ring island or a runway bend, the left turn or the right turn may be an action with a relatively larger radius of curvature.

In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 3, there may be some overlap between two adjacent segments of routes. For example, there is a certain overlap between straight line 1 and left turn 1, i.e., a route between point L1 and point S2. There is a certain overlap between the left turn 1 and the straight line 2, i.e. the route between point S3 and point L2. There is a certain overlap between the straight line 2 and right turn 1, i.e. the route between point R1 and point S4. There is a certain overlap between the right turn 1 and the straight line 3, i.e. the route between point S5 and point R2. By providing overlapping portions between the respective segments, it is possible to avoid the route planning capability to be degraded due to a switch of the output branches. In this way, the route planning capability of the autonomous parking can be improved.

In some embodiments, in response to determining that the vehicle is in a second road environment, it may be determined that the driving trajectory point is a straight-line trajectory point. In some embodiments, the second road environment may include a straight road. That is, in the second road environment that does not belong to the first road environment, the vehicle uses a straight-line operation. Thus, the solution of the present disclosure divides a specific road environment into a first road environment in which a driving route determination is required and a second road environment in which a driving route determination is not required. In the first road environment, a specific driving trajectory is determined according to the image information of the road environment and the pre-trained model. In the second road environment, the vehicle only needs to keep going straight according to the current route.

The first road environment determination module 506 is configured to determine whether the position of the vehicle is in the first road environment based on the image information.
