Claims
- 1. A method of mounting an electrical component comprising the steps of:
(1) attaching a flex foil to a base plate such that a flex foil flap is adjacent to a base plate opening in said base plate; (2) deflecting the flex foil flap in a first direction substantially perpendicular to said base plate; (3) passing an electrical contact of an electrical component into the opening in a second direction; (4) releasing said flex foil flap; and (5) electrically connecting said flex foil flap to said electrical contact.
- 2. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein said step (1) includes bonding the flex foil to the base plate.
- 3. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein said step (3) includes mounting a component having the electrical contact to the base plate.
- 4. A method as recited in claim 3, wherein said step (3) includes riveting the component to the base plate.
- 5. A method as recited in claim 3, wherein said step (3) includes snapping the component to the base plate.
- 6. A method as recited in claim 3, wherein said step (3) includes mounting the component to the base plate on a side of the base plate opposite the flex foil.
- 7. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein said step (2) includes folding the flex foil flap opposite a direction from which the sensor is mounted.
- 8. A method of mounting an electrical component comprising the steps of:
(1) attaching a flex foil to a base plate such that a flex foil flap is adjacent to an opening in said base plate; (2) locating said base plate upon a fixture; (3) flexing the flex foil flap substantially perpendicular to said base plate; (4) mounting a component to said base plate;
- 9. A method as recited in claim 8, wherein said step (3) is performed by an extension from the fixture.
- 10. A method as recited in claim 9, further including the steps of,
(5) removing the base plate from the fixture; and (6) electrically connecting the component to the flex foil flap.
- 11. A method as recited in claim 8, wherein said step (3) further includes the step of extending a movable extension from the fixture through the opening to flex the flex foil flap.
- 12. A method as recited in claim 11, further including the steps of,
(5) retracting the movable extension; and (6) electrically connecting the component to the flex foil flap.
- 13. A method of mounting a sensor comprising the steps of:
(1) attaching a flex foil to a base plate such that a flex foil flap is adjacent to an opening in said base plate; (2) mounting a sensor to said base plate such that a contact extending from the sensor extends into the opening; (3) folding the flex foil flap such that the flap is adjacent the contact; and (4) electrically connecting said flex foil flap to said electrical contact.
- 14. A method as recited in claim 13, wherein the flex foil flap is folded approximately 180 degrees.
