Claims
- 1. A method of accessing memory cells contained in memory-cell arrays in an integrated circuit, the integrated circuit including a plurality of memory-cell arrays, each memory-cell array including a plurality of memory cells and the arrays collectively including primary and redundant memory cells, the method comprising:generating a plurality of memory addresses as row addresses and column addresses from a plurality of row address sources and column address sources, respectively, the memory addresses being generated internal to the integrated and the memory addresses corresponding to primary and redundant memory cells, wherein the plurality of row address sources comprises a normal row address source defined by a row address applied to the integrated circuit, a refresh row address generation source, and a functional testing row address generation source; selecting one of the plurality of row address sources and column address sources; and accessing the primary and redundant memory cells corresponding to the selected row and column address sources.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the integrated circuit comprises a memory device.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein the memory device comprises a dynamic random access memory device.
- 4. The method of claim 1 further comprising placing the integrated circuit in a test mode of operation when the functional testing row address generation source is selected as the row address source.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein each memory-cell array includes a plurality of redundant memory cells and a plurality of primary memory cells.
