Claims
- 1. A method for producing an α-Al2O3 nanotemplate of fully crystalline α-Al2O3 directly on the surface of a metal alloy comprising pretreating a metal alloy surface with a H2+CO2 mixture at an elevated temperature, and then chemical vapor depositing AlCI3, CO2, or H2 precursors on the surface of the pretreated metal alloy to produce an α-Al2O3 nanotemplate.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the metal alloy is a super alloy.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the elevated temperature is about 1050° C.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein a single reaction chamber is used for both pretreating the metal alloy with the H2+CO2 mixture, and for chemical vapor depositing AlCl3, CO2, or H2 precursors on the metal alloy.
