Claims
- 1. A method of securing a detent device in a dental prosthesis comprising:
- positioning a spring member having helical loops for determining location of the detent device in the dental prosthesis to be formed;
- inserting a threaded plug into the loops of the spring member so that the loops engage the threads of the plug;
- forming the dental prosthesis around the spring member and the plug;
- removing the plug from the formed dental prosthesis leaving an internally threaded bore in the dental prosthesis for cooperation with the spring member;
- providing external threads on the detent device having a spring loaded plunger; and
- threading the detent device into the threaded bore of the dental prosthesis so that the spring member loops engage the threads of the detent device and an end portion of the plunger projects outwardly from the dental prosthesis.
- 2. A method as in claim 1, including engaging an end portion of the detent device with a tool, and turning the tool to rotate the detent device for longitudinal adjustment to a selected position in the dental prosthesis.
- 3. A method as in claim 1, including providing a longitudinal slot across the threads of the detent device, and filling the slot with an adhesive for securement to the dental prosthesis to prevent rotation of the detent device for securing the detent device in the dental prosthesis at a selected position.
