Claims
- 1. A method for producing antibodies against molecules in a host animal comprising:
(a) coupling a molecule to a carrier to form a complex comprising a balanced charge mixture of proteins coupled to the molecule, wherein each protein of the mixture is chemically modified to carry either a net positive or negative charge; (b) pre-immunizing a host animal with unmodified proteins of the carrier; (c) administering to the host animal the molecule coupled to the carrier so that antibodies are produced against the molecule; and (d) isolating the antibodies or B cells producing antibodies against the molecule from the host animal.
- 2. The method of claim 1 further comprising humanizing the antibody isolated from the host animal.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the molecule is a hapten and other B cell antigen.
- 4. An antibody against a molecule produced in accordance with the method of claim 1.
- 5. A humanized antibody produced in accordance with the method of claim 2.
- 6. An immunoassay kit comprising an antibody of claim 4.
- 7. A pharmaceutical composition comprising an antibody of claim 4 or 5 or a part thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle.
- 8. A method of treating a disease or infection in a subject comprising administering to a subject in need thereof the pharmaceutical composition of claim 7.
- 9. A vaccine comprising an antibody of claim 4 or 5.
- 10. A method of inducing an immune response in an animal comprising administering to the animal a vaccine of claim 9.
- 11. A vaccine comprising an immunogenically stimulatory amount of a molecule coupled to a carrier comprising a balanced charge mixture of proteins, wherein each protein of the mixture is chemically modified to carry either a net positive or negative charge.
- 12. A method of inducing an immune response against a molecule in an animal comprising:
(a) pre-immunizing the animal with unmodified proteins of a carrier; and (b) administering to the animal a vaccine comprising an immunogenically stimulatory amount of the molecule coupled to the carrier comprising a balanced charge mixture of proteins, wherein each protein of the mixture is chemically modified to carry either a net positive or negative charge.
