Claims
- 1. A method for the production of a CTG-initiated high molecular weight form of human bFGF-18 selected from the gruop consisting of bFGF-22, bFGF-23, and bFGF-24, wherein said high molecular weight form has at least one active site possessing mitogenic activity, comprising:
- (a) culturing host cells transformed with a vector comprising expression regulatory sequences operatively linked to a nucleic acid sequence which encodes the high molecular weight form of human bFGF-18 under conditions for amplification of the vector and expression of the high molecular weight form of bFGF-18;
- (b) harvesting the high molecular weight form of bFGF-18 from the culture medium; and
- (c) purifying the expressed high molecular weight form of bFGF-18 substantially free from any other form of bFGF-18, when said purified high molecular weight form of bFGF-18 is selected from the group consisting of bFGF-22, bFGF-23, and bFGF-24.
