Claims
- 1. A method of document-imaging in an arrangement including one or more document-imaging stations for imaging continually passing documents, illumination-means including stable wavelength source means with an associated optical illumination-path array for illuminating said stations; image-lift means including electronic, and human-response camera means; plus an associated optical image-path array for conducting reflections from said documents at said stations to said camera means; wherein
- photopic filter means are interposed in the image path array to shift the received spectrum of said reflections in the direction of optimal human-eye response; and selecting and operating said camera means to exhibit a spectral response close to that of the human eye.
- 2. The invention of claim 1 where each said camera means is made to comprise "charge-coupled photo-diode" means.
- 3. The invention of claim 2 including: issuing an illumination beam from said Source means; and splitting it and directing it to illuminate the Front and the Rear of each said document advanced past said stations.
- 4. The invention of claim 3 where there are two said stations, one for the Front, one for the Rear of the documents.
- 5. The invention of claim 4 including providing a pair of like said illumination-path arrays, one for Front illumination, one for Rear illumination.
- 6. The invention of claim 5 including arranging each said illumination-path array to conduct one of the beams so split to a respective Front or Rear side of the said documents; and also splitting each said path array to further split its said illumination beam into two like sub-beams, directing these to focus at a prescribed point, while disposing them at opposing, equal angles about this point.
- 7. The invention of claim 6 including providing each said station with illumination-shaping slit means; while offsetting the slit means from one another sufficient to effectively avoid interference between Front and Rear illumination.
- 8. The invention of claim 7 wherein each of the sub-beam pairs are offset about .+-.30.degree. from the Normal to the documents.
- 9. A method of lifting check images, comprising defining one or more check-imaging stations;
- providing illumination-means to said stations with stable wavelength source means in an associated optical illumination-path array; and providing image-lift means including electronic camera means, via an associated optical image-path array;
- this image path array being arranged to include photopic filter means for shifting the received spectrum in the direction of optimal human-eye response; said camera means being selected and operated to exhibit a spectral response close to that of the human eye.
- 10. The method of claim 9 wherein said source means is made to comprise fluorescent lamp means.
