Claims
- 1. A modified pigment product comprising a pigment having attached at least one aromatic group X, wherein X is substituted with at least one group comprising the formula:-[NIon]pR, wherein R represents hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group, p is an integer from 1 to 500, and NIon represents at least one non-ionic group selected from the group consisting of: polymers of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, alkylene oxides, carboxylic acid esters, glycols, alcohols, alkanolamine-fatty acid condensates, silicones, isocyanates, alkylpyrrolidenes, and alkylpolyglycosides.
- 2. The modified pigment product of claim 1, wherein NIon further comprises an ionic group.
- 3. The modified pigment product of claim 2, wherein the ionic group is a carboxylate group, a sulfonate group, a phosphate group, or an amine group.
- 4. The modified pigment product of claim 1, wherein NIon is a C1-C12 alkylene oxide group.
- 5. The modified pigment product of claim 1, wherein NIon further comprises a functional group.
- 6. The modified pigment product of claim 1, wherein NIon is a glycol group.
- 7. The modified pigment product of claim 1, wherein X is a phenyl, naphthyl, anthracenyl, phenanthrenyl, biphenyl, pyridinyl, benzothiadiazolyl, or benzothiazolyl group.
- 8. The modified pigment product of claim 1, wherein X is further substituted with at least one functional group.
- 9. The modified pigment product of claim 8, wherein said functional group is a carboxylic group or a sulfonate group.
- 10. The modified pigment product of claim 1, wherein p is 1 to 50.
- 11. The modified pigment product of claim 1, further comprising a second chemical group attached to said pigment.
- 12. An ink composition comprising a) at least one liquid vehicle; and b) at least one modified pigment product comprising a pigment having attached at least one aromatic group X, wherein X is substituted with at least one group comprising the formula:-[NIon]pR, wherein R represents hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group, p is an integer of from 1 to 500, and NIon represents at least one non-ionic group selected from the group consisting of: polymers of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, alkylene oxides, carboxylic acid esters, glycols, alcohols, alkanolamine-fatty acid condensates, silicones, isocyanates, alkylpyrrolidenes, and alkylpolyglycosides.
- 13. The ink composition of claim 12, wherein said ink composition is an inkjet ink composition.
- 14. The ink composition of claim 12, further comprising a second chemical group attached to said pigment.
