Claims
- 1. A multiple component container comprising a receptacle base having a closed bottom and a peripheral wall extending upward from said bottom, said base wall terminating in a top edge remote from said bottom, and a ring telescopically engaged with said base wall, said ring having a lower edge spaced below said top edge of said base wall and above said base bottom, said ring having an upper edge spaced above said top edge of said base wall whereby said ring defines an upper extension of said base wall.
- 2. The container of claim 1 wherein three zones are defined, a first zone comprising the base below the ring, a second zone comprising the overlapped base and ring, and a third zone comprising the ring above the base wall.
- 3. The container of claim 2 wherein one of said base and said ring defines an outer component, and the other of said base and said ring defines an inner component, said inner component being visible through said outer component.
- 4. The container of claim 3 wherein said base and said ring each have a color incorporated therein whereby said first and third zones are respectively the colors of the base and the ring, and said second zone is of a color defined by the overlapping colors of the base and ring.
- 5. The container of claim 4 wherein said base and said ring are of different colors.
- 6. The container of claim 3 including a second ring telescopically engaged with said first mentioned ring and having a lower edge positioned between the upper edge of the first mentioned ring and the top edge of the base, said second ring also having an upper edge positioned in vertically spaced relation above the upper edge of the first mentioned ring.
- 7. The container of claim 6 wherein said first mentioned ring comprises the outer component, said second ring surrounding said first ring, said first ring being intimately bonded to said base and to said second ring.
- 8. The container of claim 7 wherein said second ring has a degree of transparency whereby said first mentioned ring is visible therethrough.
- 9. The container of claim 2 wherein said ring surrounds said base and comprises an outer component, said base comprising an inner component.
- 10. The container of claim 9 wherein said base and said ring each have a color incorporated therein whereby said first and third zones are respectively the colors of the base and the ring, and said second zone is of a color defined by the overlapping colors of the base and ring.
- 11. The container of claim 2 wherein said base and said ring are formed of a molded synthetic resin with said base and said ring being intimately bonded together.
- 12. The container of claim 11 wherein said base and said ring each have a color incorporated therein whereby said first and third zones are respectively the colors of the base and the ring, and said second zone is of a color defined by the overlapping colors of the base and ring.
- 13. The container of claim 3 wherein one of said base and said ring defines an outer component, and the other of said base and said ring defines an inner component, the outer component having an inner surface, the top edge of the inner component being beveled toward the inner surface of the outer component, said inner surface having a recessed transition area defining a shoulder forming a continuation of said beveled top edge whereby a smooth merger is provided between said inner and outer components at the top edge of the inner component.
- 14. A method of molding an integral container of multiple intimately bonded precursor components comprising at least a ring component and a base component utilizing molding apparatus and comprising the steps of:
molding, in a first molding step, a first component of a predetermined configuration; and molding, in a second molding step, a second component of a configuration complementary to the predetermined configuration of the first component and wherein the first and second components only partially overlap.
- 15. The method of claim 14 wherein in the first molding step, a ring component is the first component molded.
- 16. The method of claim 14 wherein in the second molding step, a base component is the second component molded.
- 17. The method of claim 14 wherein in the first molding step, a base component is the first component molded.
- 18. The method of claim 14 wherein in the second molding step, a ring component is the second component molded.
- 19. The method of claim 14 wherein the first and second molding steps are carried out utilizing synthetic resinous material and wherein the synthetic resin utilized in the first and second molding steps differ in color.
- 20. The method of claim 19 wherein the overlapped portions of the first and second components present a visual effect derived from a color additive effect derived from the utilization of the synthetic resins that differ in color.
- 21. The method of claim 14 wherein the molding of the first and second components is carried out in a single molding apparatus.
- 22. The method of claim 14 wherein the molding of the first and second components is carried out in at least two molding apparatuses.
- 23. The method of claim 14 wherein an injection molding is carried out.
