Claims
- 1. A multipurpose console for use in a vehicle, comprising:
a) a support structure having an upper portion and a lower surface and defining an internal compartment; b) a latching mechanism being fixedly secured to said lower surface of said support structure, and being configured and dimensioned to releasably engage a mounting member of a vehicle; and c) a lid pivotally secured to said upper portion for movement between a first position and a second position, said lid being configured, dimensioned and positioned to cover said internal compartment when said lid is in said first position, said lid having an upper portion and a lower portion, said upper portion being pivotally secured to said lower portion for movement between said first and said second positions, said upper portion and said lower portion defining a surface area when said upper portion is in said second position.
- 2. A multipurpose console as in claim 1, wherein said surface area is large enough to provide an area for changing a child's diaper.
- 3. A multipurpose console as in claim 2, further comprising:
d) an electronic entertainment device.
- 4. A multipurpose console as in claim 3, wherein said electronic entertainment device is a DVD player and DVD screen, said DVD screen being movably mounted to said multipurpose console for movement between a deployed position and a closed position.
- 5. A multipurpose console as in claim 2, wherein said internal receiving area includes a plurality of storage compartments, one of said plurality of storage compartments being configured and dimensioned to receive and store a plurality of diapers.
- 6. A multipurpose console as in claim 5, wherein one of said plurality of storage compartments is a removable container.
- 7. A multipurpose console as in claim 5,wherein one of said plurality of storage compartments is configured to receive and store a plurality of DVD disks.
- 8. A multipurpose console as in claim 2, further comprising:
e) a pair of cup holders being configured, dimensioned and positioned to receive and engage a portion of a cup.
- 9. A multipurpose console as in claim 2, further comprising:
e) a portable vacuum, said portable vacuum being stored within a storage area accessible through an access door positioned on an exterior surface of said support structure.
- 10. A multipurpose console as in claim 2, further comprising:
e) an electronic device for heating or cooling an interior surface of a receptacle positioned on said upper surface of said support structure.
- 11. A multipurpose console as in claim 2, further comprising:
e) a reservoir having a spigot for dispersing the contents of said reservoir.
- 12. A multipurpose console as in claim 2, further comprising:
e) a mobile assembly being configured and dimensioned for securement to said latching mechanism, said mobile assembly having a plurality of wheels being configured and dimensioned to make contact with a surface when said mobile assembly is secured to said latching mechanism.
- 13. A multipurpose console as in claim 12, further comprising:
f) a telescoping handle secured to an outer surface of said support structure.
- 14. A multipurpose console as in claim 2, further comprising:
e) a retractable safety strap secured to said lid, said retractable safety strap having a first strap portion being fixedly secured to said lid at one end and a first connector portion at the other, said first connector portion being configured and dimensioned to engage a second connector portion secured to one end of a second strap portion having its other end secured to said lid.
- 15. A removable floor-mounted console and vehicle seat attachment structure comprising:
a) a seat attachment structure for mounting to the floor of a vehicle for the removable attachment of a vehicle seat thereto; b) a support structure having an upper portion and a lower surface and defining an internal compartment; c) a lid pivotally secured to said upper portion for movement between a first position and a second position, said lid being configured, dimensioned and positioned to cover said internal compartment when said lid is in said first position, said lid having an upper portion and a lower portion, said upper portion being pivotally secured to said lower portion for movement between said first and said second positions, said upper portion and said lower portion defining a surface area when said upper portion is in said second position; d) an electronic entertainment device; and e) a reservoir having a spigot for dispersing the contents of said reservoir.
- 16. The console as in claim 15, wherein said seat attachment structure includes a latch mechanism for lockably attaching said console to said vehicle.
- 17. The console as in claim 16, wherein said lid includes container holding recesses for receiving containers therein.
- 18. The console as in claim 17, further comprising:
f) a thermal electric device for heating or cooling a beverage container.
- 19. The console as in claim 18, further comprising:
g) a portable vacuum, said portable vacuum being stored within a storage area accessible through an access door positioned on an exterior surface of said support structure.
- 20. The console as in claim 19, further comprising a beverage container opening being configured and dimensioned to receive a portion of a beverage container, said thermal electric device being positioned to heat or cool said beverage container when it is placed within said beverage container opening.
- 21. A removable floor-mounted console and vehicle seat attachment structure comprising:
a) an attachment structure for mounting to the floor of a vehicle for the removable attachment thereto; b) a support structure having an upper portion and a lower surface and defining an internal compartment, said lower portion being secured to said seat attachment structure; c) a child safety seat for being removably secured to said upper portion; and d) means for securing said child safety seat to said upper portion.
- 22. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 21, further comprising:
e) an electronic entertainment device.
- 23. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 21, further comprising:
e) a bottle warmer for heating a baby bottle.
- 24. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 21, wherein said child seat is an infant seat configured for rearward mounting to said upper surface.
- 25. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 21, wherein said child seat is a booster seat configured for forward mounting to said upper surface.
- 26. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 21, wherein said child seat is slidably mounted into a retaining device, for securing said child seat to said upper surface.
- 27. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 21, further comprising:
a lid pivotally secured to said upper portion for movement between a first position and a second position, said lid being configured, dimensioned and positioned to cover said internal compartment when said lid is in said first position, said lid having an upper portion and a lower portion, said upper portion being pivotally secured to said lower portion for movement between said first and said second positions, said upper portion and said lower portion defining a surface area when said upper portion is in said second position.
- 28. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 27, wherein said internal compartment has a plurality of modular sub-compartments being configured for receipt of child-care products.
- 29. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 22, wherein said electronic entertainment device is a modular component being interchangeable with another modular component.
- 30. A removable floor-mounted console as in claim 29, wherein said another modular component is an audio cassette player.
