Claims
- 1. In a vaccine composition which comprises an anti-influenza vaccine, wherein the improvement comprises having as an additive:
substantially pure, recombinant influenza neuraminidase protein, wherein said protein is purified to 90% or greater.
- 2. In a vaccine composition which comprises an anti-influenza vaccine, wherein the improvement comprises having as an additive:
a combination of:
substantially pure, recombinant, mature, glycosylated influenza hemagglutinin protein, wherein said protein is purified to 90% or greater and said protein is immunogenic, and induces a protective immune response when used as a vaccine; and, substantially pure, recombinant influenza neuraminidase protein, wherein said protein is purified to 90% or greater.
- 3. The vaccine composition of claim 2 wherein the hemagglutinin protein is the HAO subunit.
- 4. The vaccine composition of any one of claims 1 to 3 wherein the anti-influenza vaccine comprises three inactivated strains of influenza virus.
- 5. The vaccine composition of any one of claims 1 to 3 which includes an adjuvant.
- 6. The vaccine composition of claim 3 which includes an adjuvant.
- 7. The vaccine composition according to claim 2, wherein the recombinant neuraminidase protein is in a molar ratio of about 0.5 to about 2.0 relative to the hemagglutinin protein.
- 8. The vaccine of claim 2 wherein the recombinant neuraminidase protein is present in a molar ratio of from about 0.15 to 0.3 relative to the hemagglutinin protein.
- 9. The vaccine of claim 2 wherein the recombinant neuraminidase protein is present in a molar ratio of from about 0.05 to about 0.15 relative to the hemagglutinin protein.
- 10. The vaccine of claim 2 wherein the recombinant neuraminidase protein is present in a molar ratio of from about 0.3 to about 0.65 relative to the hemagglutinin protein.
- 11. The vaccine of claim 2 wherein the recombinant neuraminidase protein is present in a molar ratio of from about 0.65 to about 1.0 relative to the hemagglutinin protein.
- 12. The vaccine of claim 2 wherein the recombinant neuraminidase protein is present in a molar ratio of from about 1.0 to about 2.0 relative to the hemagglutinin protein.
- 13. A method for vaccinating a mammal against influenza comprising administering to the mammal an effective amount of the vaccine composition of any one of claims 1 to 3.
- 14. A kit for formulating a composition according to claim 1 by admixture comprising (i) the anti-influenza vaccine, and (ii) the neuraminidase, in separate containers.
- 15. The kit of claim 14 wherein the containers are in a package together.
- 16. A kit for formulating a composition according to claim 2 by admixture comprising (i) the anti-influenza vaccine, and (ii) the neuraminidase, in separate containers.
- 17. The kit of claim 16 wherein the containers are in a package together.
