Claims
- 1. A compound comprising a thiol containing heme protein and an NO or NO2 group which is directly or indirectly linked to said thiol.
- 2. The compound of claim 1 wherein the heme protein is a hemoglobin.
- 3. The compound of claim 2 wherein the hemoglobin is human hemoglobin.
- 4. The compound of claim 2 wherein the hemoglobin is bovine hemoglobin.
- 5. The compound of claim 1 wherein the heme protein is a modified hemoglobin.
- 6. The compound of claim 1 which is nitrosated or nitrosylated at a sulfhydryl, nitrogen, oxygen or carbon moiety.
- 7. The compound of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
- 8. The compound of claim 2 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
- 9. The compound of claim 3 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
- 10. The compound of claim 4 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
- 11. The compound of claim 5 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
- 12. The compound of claim 6 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
- 13. The composition of claim 7 which further includes an additional component selected from the group consisting of a nonionic surfactant, a phospholipid, an emulsifier and a fatty acid.
- 14. The composition of claim 2 which further includes an additional component selected from the group consisting of a nonionic surfactant, a phospholipid, an emulsifier and a fatty acid.
