Claims
- 1. An Ampicillin ester of the formula ##STR29## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an aryl group, and R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or may be taken together with R.sub.1 to form a divalent carbon chain residue, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
- 2. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is a methyl group and R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom.
- 3. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen atoms.
- 4. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is a phenyl group and R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom.
- 5. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together form the group --CH.sub.2 --.sub.3 or the group --CH.sub.2 --.sub.5.
- 6. An antibacterial agent comprising an antibacterially effective amount of an Ampicillin ester of the formula ##STR30## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an aryl group, and R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or may be taken together with R.sub.1 to form a divalent carbon chain residue, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof in association with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 7. The antibacterial agent of claim 6 which is in a unit dosage form for oral administration.
- 8. A 6-aminopenicillanic acid ester of the formula ##STR31## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an aryl group, and R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or may be taken together with R.sub.1 to form a divalent carbon chain residue, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
- 9. A process for the treatment of bacterial infectious disease which comprises administering orally to a patient in need thereof an Ampicillin ester of the formula ##STR32## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an aryl group, and R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or may be taken together with R.sub.1 to form a divalent carbon chain residue, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
