Claims
- 1. A method for reducing the processing temperature of a thermoplastic polycarbonate comprising blending the thermoplastic polycarbonate in powder form having a maximum particle size diameter of less than about 1000 microns with an effective amount of a compound having a softening temperature of about 20.degree. to 200.degree. C. lower than the softening temperature of the thermoplastic polycarbonate.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the processing temperature of the thermosplastic polycarbonate is reduced to a maximum of about 180.degree. C.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the compound having a lower softening temperature is present in from about 0.1 to 50% by weight, based on the weight of the thermoplastic polycarbonate and the lower softening temperature compound.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein the compound having a lower softening temperature is present in from about 0.5 to 30% by weight, based on the weight of the thermoplastic polycarbonate and the lower softening temperature compound.
- 5. A process for extruding polycarbonate at a temperature of at most about 180.degree. C. comprising blending the polycarbonate in powder form having a maximum particle size diameter of less than about 1000 microns with about 0.1 to 50% by weight of a compound having a softening temperature of about 20.degree. to 200.degree. C. lower than the softening temperature of the polycarbonate, based on the weight of the polycarbonate and the lower softening temperature compound.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein said compound having a softening temperature is present in from about 0.5 to 5.0% by weight, based on the weight of the thermoplastic polycarbonate and the lower softening temperature compound.
