Claims
- 1. A photographic processing reagent comprising an aqueous alkaline solution containing a viscosity increasing polymer and at least one silver complexing compound which is represented by the formula ##STR16## where X is selected from the group consisting of oxygen, sulfur and --NR.sub.3 ;
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or diffferent and are H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, ##STR17## wherein R.sub.4 is H, alkyl, alkoxy or --NO.sub.2 and R.sub.5 is H, alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxyalkyl; and
- R.sub.3 is H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, ##STR18## or --CH.sub.2 --CH.dbd.CH--R.sub.6, wherein R.sub.6 is H, alkyl, cyano or ##STR19## wherein R.sub.7 is H or alkyl.
- 2. A reagent as defined in claim 1 wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, and alkoxyalkyl having from two to six carbon atoms.
- 3. A reagent as defined in claim 1 wherein said silver complexing compound is represented by the formula ##STR20## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, ##STR21## wherein R.sub.4 is H, alkyl, alkoxy or --NO.sub.2 and R.sub.5 is H, alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxyalkyl.
- 4. A reagent as defined in claim 3 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, and alkoxyalkyl having from two to six carbon atoms.
- 5. A reagent as defined in claim 1 wherein said silver complexing compound is represented by the formula ##STR22##
- 6. A reagent as defined in claim 1 wherein said silver complexing compound is represented by the formula ##STR23##
- 7. A reagent as defined in claim 1 wherein said silver complexing compound is represented by the formula ##STR24##
- 8. A reagent as defined in claim 1 wherein said silver complexing compound is represented by the formula ##STR25##
- 9. A reagent as defined in claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are not both H.
