Claims
- 1. An N.sup.2 -naphathalenesulfonyl-L-arginine amide having the formula: ##STR64## or the acid addition salt thereof with a pharmaceutically acceptable acid, wherein R is ##STR65## wherein Z is a divalent group containing up to 20 carbon atoms which consists of more than one group selected from the class consisting of methylene --CH.sub.2 --, mono-substituted methylene ##STR66## wherein R.sub.3 is selected from the class consisting of alkyl, acyl, alkoxy and alkoxycarbonyl, respectively containing not more than 10 carbon atoms, and carbamoyl; and disubstituted methylene ##STR67## wherein R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are alkyl groups of not more than 10 carbon atoms, which further contains at least one member selected from the class consisting of oxy -- O-- , thio-S-, ##STR68## wherein R.sub.6 is an alkyl group of not more than 10 carbon atoms, acyl-substituted ##STR69## wherein R.sub.7 is an alkyl group of not more than 10 carbon atoms; and R' is a member selected from the class consisting of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1-naphthyl, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-naphthyl, 1-naphthyl, 2-naphthyl, 1-naphthyl substituted with one member selected from the class consisting of alkoxy and alkoxycarbonyloxy, respectively containing not more than 10 carbon atoms; and 2-naphthyl substituted with a member selected from the class consisting of alkoxy and alkoxycarbonyloxy; respectively containing no more than 10 carbon atoms.
- 2. The compound of claim 1, wherein R is ##STR70## optionally substituted with at least one member selected from the class consisting of alkyl, acyl, alkoxy and alkoxycarbonyl, respectively containing not more than 10 carbon atoms, and carbamoyl, wherein Z is selected from the class consisting of oxy-O-, thio-S-, ##STR71## wherein R.sub.6 is an alkyl group of not more than 10 carbon atoms, acyl-substituted imino ##STR72## wherein R.sub.7 is an alkyl group of not more than 10 carbon atoms, and carbonyl; m is an integer of 0, 1, 2 or 3; n is an integer of 0, 1 or 2; and m+n is an integer from 2 to 5.

This is a division of application Ser. No. 760,586 now U.S. Pat. No. 4,066,759 filed on Jan. 19, 1977 which application is a continuation-in-part of application Ser. No. 671,436 filed Mar. 29, 1976, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,066,758 which, in turn, is a continuation-in-part of U.S. application Ser. No. 622,390 filed Oct. 14, 1975, now abandoned.
