Claims
- 1. An optical recording element for recording, erasing and reproducing information using a light beam, comprising:
- a transparent substrate;
- sample pits disposed at intervals of a fixed distance in an access direction of said light beam on said substrate, each of said sample pits including a pair of pits for providing information regarding tracking errors, at least one of which is inclined with respect to the access direction of the light beam;
- preformed pits formed in the access direction of said light beam each of said preformed pits having a discrete recording film at its base;
- each of said sample pits includes:
- a first reference pit of substantially round shape disposed in the center of one of said tracks;
- an elongated pit angled with respect to the track direction; and
- a second reference pit disposed after the angled pit in the access direction of said light beam so that the spacing between the first reference pit and the inclined pit is equal to the spacing between the angled pit and the second reference pit.
- 2. An optical recording element for recording, erasing and reproducing information using a light beam, comprising:
- a transparent substrate;
- sample pits disposed at intervals of a fixed distance in an access direction of said light beam on said substrate, each of said sample pits including a pair of pits for providing information regarding tracking errors, at least one of which is inclined with respect to the access direction of the light beam;
- preformed pits formed in the access direction of said light beam each of said preformed pits having a discrete recording film at its base;
- each of said sample pits includes:
- a first reference pit of substantially round shape disposed in the center of one of said tracks;
- an elongated pit angled with respect to the track direction; and
- the first reference pit has a diameter greater than the preformed pits.
- 3. An optical recording element comprising:
- a transparent substrate;
- a plurality of preformed pits formed on a surface of the transparent substrate, each preformed pit being coated with a recording film that changes its physical property when a signal is recorded, the recording film being non-continuous so that recording portions are formed thereon discretely;
- the preformed pits are the size of a recording bit and are formed in an access direction of a light beam used for recording; and
- the recording film of each of the preformed pits are discrete and independent from each other, so that signal quality is improved without the occurrence of cross talk.
- 4. The optical recording element as recited in claim 3, wherein each preformed pit comprising a barrier for preventing heat applied on a recording bit from being transferred outside the recording bit.
- 5. The optical recording element as recited in claim 4, wherein said barrier is defined by a wall for each performed pit.
- 6. The optical recording element recited in claim 5, wherein the depth of each performed pit is at least 300 .ANG..
