Claims
- 1. Optical recording medium comprising a recording layer containing a photopolymerizable monomer having a hydrophilic moiety and a hydrophobic moiety on a substrate, said monomer having the formula:
- R.sub.1 CH.dbd.CH--R.sub.2 CH.dbd.CH--R.sub.1
- wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each a hydrophilic moiety or a hydrophobic moiety provided that when both R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have hydrophilic or hydrophobic groups, at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 has both a hydrophobic group and a hydrophilic group, wherein said recording layer is a monomolecular or a built-up monomolecular Langmuir-Blodgett film wherein said recording layer records information upon polymerization and erases information upon thermal depolymerization.
- 2. The optical recording medium of claim 1 including a photoconductive film interposed between said substrate and said Langmuir-Blodgett film.
- 3. The optical recording medium of claim 2, wherein said photoconductive film comprises a selenium, zinc oxide or cadmium sulfide matrix.
- 4. The optical recording medium of claim 1 wherein the optical recording medium is from 30 .ANG. to 3 .mu.m in thickness.
- 5. The optical recording medium of claim 1 wherein the optical recording medium is from 100 .ANG. to 3000 .ANG. in thickness.
