Claims
- 1. An optical recording medium having a land and a groove, the medium comprising:
- a transparent substrate;
- an inner protection layer formed on the transparent substrate;
- a recording material layer formed on the inner protection layer and having a predetermined thickness;
- an outer protection layer formed on the recording material and having a predetermined thickness; and
- a reflection layer formed on the outer protection layer,
- wherein the groove is formed to have a depth such that crosstalk between the groove and the land is minimized; and
- a ratio of a thickness of the outer protection layer to a thickness of the recording material layer is set such that an amplitude of a signal to be recorded on the land coincides with an amplitude of a signal to be recorded in the groove and that crosstalk between the land and groove is minimized.
- 2. The optical recording medium according to claim 1, wherein the ratio of a thickness of the outer protection layer to a thickness of the recording material layer is set in a range between 0.8 and 1.2.
- 3. The optical recording medium according to claim 2, wherein the groove depth is set at .lambda./6 where .lambda. is a wavelength of light.
- 4. The optical recording medium according to claim 1, wherein the ratio of a thickness of the outer protection layer to a thickness of the recording material layer is set in a range between 0.9 and 1.1.
- 5. The optical recording medium according to claim 4, wherein the groove depth is set at .lambda./6 where .lambda. is a wavelength of light.
- 6. The optical recording medium according to claim 1, wherein the inner protection layer and the outer protection layer are formed of ZnS and SiO.sub.2.
- 7. The optical recording medium according to claim 1, wherein the inner protection layer has a thickness of 270 nm and the outer protection layer has a thickness of 20 nm.
- 8. The optical recording medium according to claim 1, wherein the reflection layer is formed of aluminum and has a thickness of not less than 10 nm.
- 9. The optical recording medium according to claim 1, wherein the recording material layer is formed of GeSbTe.
- 10. An optical recording medium having a land and a groove on which a recording mark is selectively formed, the medium comprising:
- a transparent substrate;
- an inner protection layer formed on the transparent substrate;
- recording material layer formed on the inner protection layer and having a predetermined thickness;
- an outer protection layer formed on the recording material layer and having a predetermined thickness; and
- a reflection layer formed on the outer protection layer;
- wherein the groove is formed to have a depth of .lambda./6 where .lambda. is a wavelength of light, and
- a ratio of a thickness of the outer protection layer to a thickness of the recording material layer is set in a range between 0.8 and 1.2.
- 11. The optical recording medium according to claim 10, wherein a track pitch which determines a distance between the land and the groove is set at 1.2 .mu.m and the groove has a width of 0.6 .mu.m.
- 12. The optical recording medium according to claim 1, wherein the thickness ratio is set in a range between 0.9 and 1.1.
- 13. The optical recording medium according to claim 12, wherein a track pitch which determines a distance between the land and the groove is set at 1.2 .mu.m and the groove has a width of 0.6 .mu.m.
- 14. The optical recording medium according to claim 1, wherein the inner protection layer and the outer protection layer are formed of ZnS and SiO.sub.2.
- 15. The optical recording medium according to claim 10, wherein the inner protection layer has a thickness of 270 nm and the outer protection layer has a thickness of 20 nm.
- 16. The optical recording medium according to claim 10, wherein the reflection layer is formed of aluminum and has a thickness of not less than 10 nm.
- 17. The optical recording medium according to claim 10, wherein the recording material layer is formed of GeSbTe.
- 18. An optical recording and reproducing apparatus comprising:
- an optical recording medium;
- a laser element for emitting a laser beam to said optical recording medium;
- an objective lens facing said optical recording medium, for converging the laser beam thereto to record information thereon and reproduce recorded information therefrom; and
- a light detector for converting a laser beam reflected from said optical recording medium into an electric signal, wherein
- said optical recording medium has a land and a groove, and comprises:
- a transparent substrate;
- an inner protection layer formed on the transparent substrate;
- a recording material layer formed on the inner protection layer and having a predetermined thickness;
- an outer protection layer formed on the recording material and having a predetermined thickness; and
- a reflection layer formed on the outer protection layer, and wherein
- the groove is formed to have a depth such that crosstalk between the groove and the land is minimized; and
- a ratio of a thickness of the outer protection layer to a thickness of the recording material layer is set such that an amplitude of a signal to be recorded on the land coincides with an amplitude of a signal to be recorded in the groove and that crosstalk between the land and groove is minimized.
- 19. An optical recording and reproducing apparatus comprising:
- an optical recording medium;
- a laser element for emitting a laser beam to said optical recording medium;
- an objective lens facing said optical recording medium, for converging the laser beam thereto to record information thereon and reproduce recorded information therefrom; and
- a light detector for converting a laser beam reflected from said optical recording medium into an electric signal,
- said optical recording medium having a land and a groove on which a recording mark is selectively formed, and comprising:
- a transparent substrate;
- an inner protection layer formed on the transparent substrate;
- a recording material layer formed on the inner protection layer and having a predetermined thickness;
- an outer protection layer formed on the recording material layer and having a predetermined thickness; and
- a reflection layer formed on the outer protection layer,
- wherein the groove is formed to have a depth of .lambda./6 where .lambda. is a wavelength of light, and
- a ratio of a thickness of the outer protection layer to a thickness of the recording material layer is set in a range between 0.8 and 1.2.
