Claims
- 1. A method for optically recording information in an optical recording medium, which comprises the following steps:
- selecting an optical recording medium comprising an optical recording layer provided on a substrate, a protective material and a bond layer for bonding the optical recording layer to the protective material, the bond layer having a thermoplastic adhesive comprising (A) a tackifier and (B) at least one of (i) an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer, (ii) an ethylene-acrylate ester copolymer and (iii) an ethylene-maleic anhydride-acrylic acid terpolymer; and
- irradiating said optical recording medium with a light beam, thereby forming pits in the optical recording layer and recording information.
- 2. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein the tackifier is at least one of terpene resin, terpene-phenol resin, and their hydrogenated resins.
- 3. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein the optical recording layer contains a polymethine-based organic coloring matter.
- 4. A method for optically recording information according to claim 3, wherein the polymethine-based organic coloring matter is a compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR4## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a substituted alkyl group, a cyclic alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, a substituted aralkyl group, an aryl group, a substituted aryl group, a styryl group, a substituted styryl group, a heterocyclic group or a substituted heterocyclic group; n is 0, 1 or 2; and X.crclbar. represents an anion.
- 5. A method for optically recording information according to claim 3, wherein the polymethine-based, organic coloring matter is the compound represented by the following formula (II): ##STR5##
- 6. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein the thermoplastic adhesive contains from 60 to 90%, based on the total weight of said adhesive, of said component (B) and from 10 to 20% by weight of said component (A).
- 7. A method for optically recording information according to claim 6 wherein the thermoplastic adhesive consists essentially of a mixture of an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer, an ethylene-maleic anhydride-acrylic acid terpolymer and a terpene resin.
- 8. A method for optically recording information according to claim 7 further comprising an optical recording layer containing the polymethine-based organic coloring matter represented by the following formula (II): ##STR6##
- 9. A method for optically recording information according to claim 6 wherein the thermoplastic adhesive consists essentially of a mixture of an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer, an ethylene-maleic anhydride-acrylic acid terpolymer and a hydrogenated terpene resin.
- 10. A method for optically recording information according to claim 9 further comprising an optical recording layer containing the polymethine-based organic coloring matter represented by the following formula (III): ##STR7##
- 11. A method for optically recording information according to claim 6 wherein the thermoplastic adhesive consists essentially of a mixture of an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer and a terpene resin.
- 12. A method for optically recording information according to claim 6 wherein the thermoplastic adhesive consists essentially of a mixture of an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer, an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer and a terpene-phenol resin.
- 13. A method for optically recording information according to claim 6 wherein the thermoplastic adhesive consists essentially of a mixture of an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer and a terpene resin.
- 14. A method for optically recording information according to any one of claims 11, 12 or 13 further comprising an optical recording layer containing the polymethine-based organic coloring matter represented by the following formula (II): ##STR8##
- 15. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein the bond layer has a thickness of 5 to 200 .mu.m.
- 16. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein the bond layer has a thickness of 10 to 80 .mu.m.
- 17. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein the optical recording layer has a thickness of 300 .ANG. to 1500 .ANG..
- 18. A method for optically recording information according to claim 17, wherein the optical recording layer has a thickness of 700 .ANG. to 1300 .ANG..
- 19. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein the optical recording medium is a card-type optical recording medium.
- 20. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein an underlayer is provided between the optical recording layer and the substrate.
- 21. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein said substrate of the optical recording medium is a polycarbonate substrate.
- 22. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein said protective material of the optical recording medium is a polycarbonate protective layer.
- 23. A method for optically recording information according to claim 1, wherein said substrate of the optical recording medium is a polymethyl methacrylate substrate.
- 24. A method for optically recording information in an optical recording medium, which comprises the following steps:
- selecting an optical recording medium comprising an optical recording layer provided on a substrate, a protective material, and a bond layer for bonding the optical recording layer to the protective material, the bond layer having a thermoplastic adhesive comprising (A) a tackifier and (B) at least one of (i) an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer, (ii) an ethylene-acrylate ester copolymer, and (iii) an ethylene-maleic anhydride-acrylic acid terpolymer, wherein said substrate is formed from polycarbonate resin and said optical recording layer contains a polymethine-based organic coloring matter represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR9## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a substituted alkyl group, a cyclic alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, a substituted aralkyl group, an aryl group, a substituted aryl group, a styryl group, a substituted styryl group, a heterocyclic group or a substituted heterocyclic group; n is 0, 1 or 2; and X.crclbar. represents an anion; and
- irradiating said optical recording medium with a light beam, thereby forming pits in the optical recording layer and recording information.
