Claims
- 1. An optical system housing structure for use in an image forming apparatus, comprising:
- a scanning exposure optical system;
- an optical system housing for housing said scanning exposure optical system;
- said optical system housing being composed of a bottom panel and surrounding walls having ends joined in pairs in interdigitating relationship, each of said ends having alternate recessed end surfaces and positioning ridges, the recessed end surfaces of one of said ends in each of the pairs being held in abutment against inner surfaces of the positioning ridges of the other end in the pair, and the positioning ridges of said one of the ends being received and locked by the recessed end surfaces of said other end; and
- a pair of parallel guide bars extending between and attached to confronting two of said surrounding walls, said guide bars holding said scanning exposure optical system thereon.
- 2. An optical system housing structure according to claim 1, wherein at least one of said surrounding walls is integral with and bent from said bottom panel, with said recessed end surfaces and said positioning ridges on the ends thereof.
- 3. A housing structure for use in an image forming apparatus, comprising:
- a scanning exposure optical system;
- an optical system housing having surrounding side walls for housing said scanning exposure optical system;
- an image forming mechanism housing for housing an image forming mechanism;
- said image forming mechanism housing having a pair of confronting side walls spaced from each other, one of said side walls being taller than the other side wall, said one of the side walls having vertical positioning support fingers projecting laterally from an inner surface thereof, said other side wall having vertical positioning surfaces on an upper side thereof; and
- said optical system housing being vertically positioned by said vertical positioning support fingers and said vertical positioning surfaces and horizontally positioned by said inner surface of said one of the side walls against which an outer surface of one of said surrounding side walls of said optical system housing is held; and
- a pair of parallel guide bars extending between and attached to confronting two of said surrounding side walls, said guide bars holding said scanning exposure optical system thereon.
- 4. A housing structure according to claim 3, further including fasteners by which said inner surface of said one of the side walls is horizontally fastened to the outer surface of one of the surrounding side walls of said optical system housing, and fasteners by which said vertical positioning surfaces of said one of the side walls are vertically fastened to a lower bottom surface of said optical system housing.
