Claims
- 1. A power transmission chain comprised of a plurality of interleaved sets of inverted tooth links, said inverted tooth links being adapted to contact the teeth of a sprocket, pivot means connecting adjacent sets of links, each link defining a pair of apertures for receiving said pivot means, said interleaved sets of links forming columns of links along the length of the chain, some of said columns of links including links having a pair of toes separated by a crotch, others of said columns of links including links having a single toe.
- 2. The chain set forth in claim 1 wherein said columns including single toe links include links having a single toe symmetrical about a vertical link centerline between the apertures.
- 3. The chain set forth in claim 1 wherein said sets including single toe links include links having a single toe asymmetrical about a vertical link centerline between the apertures.
- 4. The chain set forth in claim 1 wherein said columns of two toed links are alternated with said columns of single toed links.
- 5. The chain set forth in claim 1 wherein said pivot means is a round pin.
- 6. The chain set forth in claim 1 wherein said pivot means is a pin and a rocker joint.
- 7. The chain set forth in claim 1 wherein said chain assembly includes a single column of two toed links and a single column of single toed links.
- 8. The chain set forth in claim 7 wherein said column is defined by a width of three links.
- 9. The chain set forth in claim 7 wherein said column is defined by a width of four links.
- 10. The power transmission chain of claim wherein said chain drivingly connects a first driving sprocket and a first driven sprocket,
- a second power transmission chain having a plurality of interleaved sets of inverted tooth links, said second chain drivingly connecting a second driving sprocket and a second driven sprocket, said second chain having pivot pins connecting adjacent sets of links, each link including apertures for receiving said pivot pins,
- said first and second driving sprockets being connected to and disposed in parallel relationship along a single drive shaft, each of said first and second driving sprockets having a plurality of spaced teeth, the location of the teeth of said first driving sprocket being circumferentially offset with respect to the location of the teeth of said second driving sprocket,
- said first and second driven sprockets being connected to and disposed in parallel relationship along a single driven shaft, each of said first and second driven sprockets having a plurality of spaced teeth.
- 11. The power transmission chain of claim 10 wherein the location of the teeth of the first driven sprocket are circumferentially offset from the teeth of said second driven sprocket.
