Claims
- 1. A phenylglycinamide of the formula ##STR38## in which A represents straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl each having up to 8 carbon atoms, or represents cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms,
- G represents hydrogen, halogen or perfluoroalkyl having up to 5 carbon atoms,
- D represents a group of the formula --CH.sub.2 --OR.sup.6 or --CO--R.sup.7,
- in which
- R.sup.6 denotes hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.7 denotes hydrogen, hydroxyl or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 8 carbon atoms,
- E represents hydrogen, halogen, nitro, hydroxyl, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxycarbonyl each having up to 6 carbon atoms, cyano or carboxyl,
- L represents hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.1 represents cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, or represents straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, hydroxyl, halogen or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 6 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are identical or different and represent hydrogen, pyridyl, cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, phenyl, or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by hydroxyl, pyridyl, carboxyl, straight-chain or branched alkoxycarbonyl having up to 6 carbon atoms or by a group of the formula --NR.sup.8 R.sup.9,
- in which
- R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 are identical or different and denote hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms
- or
- R.sup.4 and R.sup.5, together with the nitrogen atom, form a morpholine piperazine or piperidine ring or a salt therof.
- 2. A phenylglycinamide or salt thereof according to claim 1, in which
- A represents straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl each having up to 6 carbon atoms, or represents cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl or cycloheptyl,
- G represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or perfluoroalkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- D represents a group of the formula --CH.sub.2 --OR.sup.6 or --CO--R.sup.7,
- in which
- R.sup.6 denotes hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.7 denotes hydrogen, hydroxyl or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 6 carbon atoms,
- E represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, trifluoromethyl, carboxyl or straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxycarbonyl each having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- L represents hydrogen or methyl
- R.sup.1 represents cyclopropyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl or cycloheptyl, or represents straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by cyclopropyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl or cycloheptyl,
- R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, hydroxyl, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are identical or different and represent hydrogen, pyridyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by hydroxyl, pyridyl, carboxyl, straight-chain or branched alkoxycarbonyl having up to 4 carbon atoms or by a group of the formula --NR.sup.8 R.sup.9,
- in which
- R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 are identical or different and denote hydrogen or methyl, or
- R.sup.4 and R.sup.5, together with the nitrogen atom, form a morpholine, piperazine or piperidine ring,
- and their salts.
- 3. A phenylglycinamide or salt thereof according to claim 1,
- in which
- A represents straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl each having up to 4 carbon atoms, or represents cyclopropyl, cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl,
- G represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or perfluoroalkyl having up to 2 carbon atoms,
- D represents a group of the formula --CH.sub.2 --OR.sup.6 or --CO--R.sup.7,
- in which
- R.sup.6 denotes hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.7 denotes hydrogen, hydroxyl or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- E represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy or methyl
- L represents hydrogen or methyl,
- R.sup.1 represents cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl or cycloheptyl, or represents straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 3 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl or cycloheptyl,
- R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, methyl or ethyl,
- R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, hydroxyl, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or methoxy,
- R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are identical or different and represent hydrogen, pyridyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by hydroxyl, pyridyl, carboxyl, straight-chain or branched alkoxycarbonyl having up to 3 carbon atoms, amino or dimethylamino,
- or
- R.sup.4 and R.sup.5, together with the nitrogen atom, form a morpholine, piperazine or piperidine ring,
- and their salts.
- 4. A phenylglycinamide according to claim 1 wherein such compound is 2-{2-[4-(2-Butyl-4-chloro-5-formyl-imidazol-1-yl-methyl)-phenyl]-2-cyclopentyl}acetamido-2-phenyl-acetamide of the formula ##STR39## or a salt thereof.
- 5. A phenylglycinamide according to claim 1 wherein such compound is 2-{2-[4-(2-Butyl-4-chloro-5-formyl-imidazol-1-yl-methyl)-phenyl]-2-cycloheptyl}acetamido-2-phenyl-acetamide of the formula ##STR40## or a salt thereof.
- 6. A phenylglycinamide according to claim 1 wherein such compound is 2-[4-(2-Butyl-4-chloro-5-hydroxymethyl-imidazol-1-yl-methyl)phenyl]-2-cyclohexyl-N-phenylglycinamidoacetamide of the formula ##STR41## or a salt thereof.
- 7. A phenylglycinamide according to claim 1 wherein such compound is 2-{2-[4-(2-Butyl-4-chloro-5-hydroxymethyl-imidazol-1-yl-methyl)phenyl]-2-cyclopentyl}acetamido2-phenyl-acetamide of the formula ##STR42## or a salt thereof.
- 8. A composition for the treatment of arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis comprising an amount effective therefore of a compound or salt thereof according to claim 1 and a pharmacologically acceptable diluent.
- 9. The method of treating arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis in a patient in need thereof which comprises administering to such patient an amount effective therefor of a compound or salt thereof according to claim 1.
