Claims
- 1. A photographic prebleaching composition comprising:a) at least 0.001 mol/l of a bleach accelerating agent, b) at least 0.01 mol/l of an organic polyphosphonic acid, an aminopolysuccinic acid, or a polycarboxylic acid containing at least one hydroxy group as a compound to prevent bleaching agent precipitation.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein said bleaching agent precipitation prevention compound is present in an amount of from about 0.02 to about 1 mol/l.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein said bleaching agent precipitation prevention compound is an aminopolyphosphonic acid or a hydroxy-substituted polycarboxylic acid, or a salt of any of these.
- 4. The composition of claim 3 wherein said bleaching agent precipitation prevention compound is a hydroxy-substituted polycarboxylic acid or a salt thereof.
- 5. The composition of claim 1 wherein said bleaching agent precipitation compound is 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid, ethylenediaminetetra(methylenephosphonic acid), morpholinomethanediphosphonic acid, hexamethylenediaminetetra-(methylenephosphonic acid), diethylenetriaminepenta(methylenephosphonic acid), 2-hydroxy-1,3-propylenediaminetetraacetic acid, hydroxyaspartic acid, citric acid, tartaric acid, malic acid, citramalic acid, hydroxymalonic acid, or dihydroxyfumaric acid, a salt of any of these, or mixtures of any two or more of these.
- 6. The composition of claim 1 wherein said bleaching agent precipitation prevention compound is iminodisuccinic acid or a salt thereof.
- 7. The composition of claim 1 further comprising at least 0.0005 mol/l of inorganic phosphate ions that are introduced directly to said prebleaching composition or by carryover.
- 8. The composition of claim 1 wherein said bleach accelerating agent is a thiol.
- 9. A method of photographic processing comprising prebleaching an imagewise exposed and color developed color reversal photographic silver halide element with a photographic prebleaching composition comprising:a) at least 0.001 mol/l of a bleach accelerating agent, b) at least 0.01 mol/l of an organic polyphosphonic acid, an aminopolysuccinic acid, or a polycarboxylic acid containing at least one hydroxy group as a compound to prevent bleaching agent precipitation.
- 10. The method of claim 9 wherein said prebleaching composition further comprises at least 0.0005 mol/l of inorganic phosphate ions that are introduced directly to said prebleaching composition or by carryover.
- 11. The method of claim 9 further comprising bleaching said color developed color reversal photographic silver halide element after said prebleaching step.
- 12. The method of claim 11 wherein bleaching is carried out using a photographic bleaching composition comprising a biodegradable ferric ion bleaching agent.
- 13. The method of claim 11 wherein bleaching is carried out using a bleaching composition comprising a ferric ion chelated with 1,3-propylenediaminetetraacetic acid or a salt thereof.
- 14. The method of claim 13 wherein said bleaching composition also comprises a bleaching agent precipitation prevention compound.
- 15. The method of claim 9 further comprising fixing said color developed color reversal photographic silver halide element after said prebleaching step.
