- (a) a frame;
- (b) a plurality of walls slideably connected to said frame, said walls cooperatively arranged so as to form an interior volume;
- (c) means, cooperatively connected to said frame and cooperatively engaging said walls, for moving at least one of said walls relative to said other walls wherein the volume formed by said walls is continuously adjusted, whereby light delivered by the mixing chamber is maximized for the negative.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said moving means comprises a rotatable ring, said ring having a slot corresponding to each wall formed therethrough, said slot having a first end and a second end, said first end being located closer to the interior edge of said ring and said second end being located closer to the exterior edge of said ring, and wherein said slot forms an arc between said first and second ends and said walls include a slot engaging member slideably inserted in said slots, whereby rotation of said ring moves said walls.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2, further comprising rotation means for rotating said ring.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein said rotation means are a screw assembly, cooperatively connected to said ring and said frame, said screw assembly including a threaded member, a thread engaging member threadably connected to said threaded member, motor means for rotating said threaded member, and a linking member cooperatively connected to said ring and said thread engaging member.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said plurality of walls includes four walls, each of said wall having a first edge and a second edge wherein said volume is defined by the area enclosed by said walls between said first and second edges.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein a side edge of each wall is located proximate the face of the adjacent wall, and wherein said orientation daisy chains around said volume.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the mixing chamber includes an input port and an exit port for the light and the light passing through the mixing chamber defines an optical axis, and wherein the said first edges are proximate the exit chamber and a midpoint of the first edge is defined between adjacent walls, whereby a line connecting midpoints of opposite walls extend through the optical axis of the light.
- 8. An apparatus of the type wherein an image from a negative is exposed onto a light sensitive medium, comprising:
- (a) a light source;
- (b) holding means for securing the negative relative to said light source; and
- (c) mixing chamber means, cooperatively disposed between said holding means and said light source, for receiving the light from said light source and providing an approximately homogeneous light to the negative, said mixing chamber means including an exit port proximate the negative wherein said exit port is continuously adjustable relative to the size of said negative, whereby a single mixing chamber may be utilized for a plurality of negative sizes to maximize the light provided to the negative.
- 9. A lens holder apparatus for a photographic printer of the type having a light source and an exposure station for holding light sensitive material, wherein an optical axis is defined by the path of light from the light source to the exposure station, comprising:
- (a) a first shaft, said shaft being oriented generally parallel to a line normal to the mean plane formed by the exposure station;
- (b) a plurality of concentric shafts, said concentric shafts being arranged and configured about said first shaft, wherein said concentric shafts are independently rotatable about said first shaft;
- (c) advance means, cooperatively connected to said concentric shafts, for rotating said concentric shafts; and
- (d) a plurality of deck means, cooperatively connected to said concentric shafts, for holding lens groups, each of said lens groups including one or more lenses to project an image onto the light sensitive material, wherein each of said deck means includes one or more first projecting positions defined by a lens group being extended into the optical axis, and one or more second projecting positions defined by no lens group being extended into the optical axis, whereby selective actuation of said advance means moves a corresponding deck means a into said first projecting position.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein said concentric shafts are tubes, and wherein said incremental advance means include a gear motor and a Geneva device, wherein there is a corresponding gear motor and Geneva device for each of said concentric shafts.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 10, further comprising a lever arm, having a pivot point, said lever arm having two ends, wherein said gear motor is mounted to said first end and biasing means are mounted on said second end, wherein said gear motor is biased into said Geneva device, whereby the clearance between the Geneva sprocket and cam are minimized.
- 12. An apparatus of the type used to supply light sensitive web material to a platen in a photographic printer, comprising:
- (a) a rod, wherein the circumference of said rod has a plurality of grooves formed therein;
- (b) a first end plate, said first end plate having a first hole formed therethrough, said rod inserted through said first hole;
- (c) first groove retention means, cooperatively connected to said first end plate, for engaging a groove formed in said rod, whereby said first end plate is firmly engaged to said rod when said groove retention means are actuated;
- (d) a second end plate, said second end plate having a second hole formed therethrough, said rod inserted through said second hole; and
- (e) second groove retention means, cooperatively connected to said second end plate and biased a predetermined distance from said second plate along the axial direction of said rod, for engaging a groove formed in said rod, wherein said second end plate forced the supply of web material against said first end plate, whereby said web material is registered in the printer.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein said rod is comprises of a hollow tube.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein said second groove retention means includes a disk having holes formed therethrough in which bushings are located, and wherein said second end plate includes stand-offs cooperatively located in said bushings, wherein said disk is biased away from said second end plate along said stand-offs.
