Claims
- 1. A pinch valve comprising a valve body, with said valve body including a pair of slot portions,
- a solenoid housing mounted on said valve body,
- a solenoid coil mounted in said solenoid housing with said solenoid housing having a central bore,
- armature means disposed in said valve body,
- a plunger member supported by said armature means with said plunger member having an intermediate portion,
- guide pin means disposed on said intermediate portion of said plunger member with said guide pin means projecting into said slot portions formed in said valve body,
- spring means disposed in said central bore,
- resilient tubing means disposed between said plunger member and said valve body, with said armature means disposed to force said plunger member against said tubing means and said tubing means against said valve body, causing said tubing means to collapse and preventing flow through said tubing means when said solenoid coil is electrically energized, thereby drawing said armature means toward said solenoid.
- 2. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 1 in which said spring means comprises a helical compression spring.
- 3. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 1 in which said plunger member has an end portion with a reduced cross-sectional area disposed bearing on said tubing means.
- 4. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 1 in which said plunger member has an upper end which is chamfered.
- 5. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 1 in which said valve body includes retaining means for removably attaching said tubing means to said valve body.
- 6. A pinch valve comprising a valve body, with said valve body including a pair of slot portions,
- a solenoid coil housing mounted on said valve body,
- a solenoid coil mounted in said solenoid housing with said solenoid housing having a central bore,
- electrically conducting armature means disposed in said valve body,
- a plunger member supported by said armature means with said plunger member having an intermediate portion,
- electrical switch means mounted on said valve body,
- guide pin means disposed on said intermediate portion of said plunger member with said guide pin means projecting into said slot portions formed in said valve body,
- spring means disposed in said central bore,
- resilient tubing means disposed between said plunger member and said valve body, with said armature means disposed to force said plunger member against said tubing means and said tubing means against said valve body, causing said tubing means to collapse and preventing flow through said tubing means when said solenoid coil is electrically engergized, thereby drawing said armature means toward said solenoid, with said electrical switch means comprising non-conductive housing means, and electrically conductive spring means having one end disposed to bear on said electrically conductive armature means, and an electrical signal lead connected to said spring means, with said electrical lead forming an electrical ground when said armature member is drawn toward said solenoid.
- 7. A pinch valve according to claim 1 in which said armature means is solid and said armature means and said plunger member comprise a rigid permanent assembly.
- 8. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 1 in which said plunger member has an upper end which is chamfered.
- 9. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 1 in which said valve body includes retaining means for removably attaching said tubing means to said valve body.
- 10. A pinch valve assembly comprising a valve body,
- a solenoid housing mounted on said valve body,
- a solenoid coil mounted in said solenoid housing with said solenoid coil having a central bore,
- shaft means disposed in said central bore with said shaft means having an upper end and a lower end,
- a plunger member connected to said upper end of said shaft means,
- armature means connected to said lower end of said shaft means,
- guide means disposed on said valve body and disposed to guide said plunger member relative to said valve body,
- resilient tubing means disposed between said plunger and said valve body, with said armature capable of an upper position, when said solenoid coil is electrically energized, in which said armature raises said shaft means and said plunger member thereby forcing said plunger member against said tubing means and said tubing means against said valve body, causing said tubing means to collapse and preventing flow through said tubing means until said solenoid coil is de-energized, whereupon said armature falls to a lower position causing said shaft and said plunger member to move away from said tubing means, thereby permitting flow through said tubing means, with said guide means comprising a pair of pin members projecting from said plunger member, with said valve body further including a slot portion and with said pin members substantially aligned and projecting into said slot portion.
- 11. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 10 in which said tubing means comprises a plurality of flexible tubes, and further comprising tubing retaining means mounted on said tubing to retain and position said plurality of tubes relative to said valve body.
- 12. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 10 in which said guide means comprises a roller bearing.
- 13. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 10 in which said shaft means includes a projecting portion, with said projecting portion projecting above said armature means and in which said solenoid housing includes an aperture thereby enabling the viewing of said projecting portion of said shaft means in order to visually determine the energized or non-energized status of said pinch valve assembly.
- 14. A pinch valve assembly according to claim 10 in which said shaft means includes a projecting member with said projecting member projecting above said armature means and further including electrical switch means mounted on said solenoid housing and with said projecting member disposed to actuate said electrical switch means, thereby providing an electrical indication responsive to the energized or non-energized status of said pinch valve assembly.
