Claims
- 1. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising a polynucleotide sequence or the full complement of the entire length of the polynucleotide sequence, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 95% identical to the full length of SEQ ID NO:1 wherein the isolated polynucleotide sequence detects Staphylococcus aureus.
- 2. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 1.
- 3. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 2.
- 4. The isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 97% identical to SEQ ID NO:1.
- 5. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 4.
- 6. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 5.
- 7. The isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 99% identical to SEQ ID NO:1.
- 8. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 7.
- 9. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 8.
- 10. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising a polynucleotide sequence or the full complement of the entire length of the polynucleotide sequence; wherein the polynucleotide sequence hybridizes to the full complement of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the hybridization conditions comprise incubation at 42° C. in a solution comprising: 50% formamide, 5×SSC (150 mM NaCl, 15 mM trisodium citrate), 50 mM sodium phosphate (pH7.6), 5×Denhardt's solution, 10% dextran sulfate, and 20 micrograms/ml denatured, sheared salmon sperm DNA, followed by washing in 0.1×SSC at 65° C.; wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 95% identical to the full length of SEQ ID NO:1; and wherein the isolated polynucleotide sequence detects Staphylococcus aureus.
- 11. The isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 10, wherein the polynucleotide sequence hybridizes to the full complement of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the hybridization conditions comprise incubation at 42° C. in a solution comprising: 50% formamide, 5×SSC (150 mM NaCl, 15 mM trisodium citrate), 50 mM sodium phosphate (pH7.6), 5×Denhardt's solution, 10% dextran sulfate, and 20 micrograms/ml denatured, sheared salmon sperm DNA, followed by washing in 0.1×SSC at 65° C.; wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 97% identical to the full length of SEQ ID NO:1; and wherein the isolated polynucleotide sequence detects Staphylococcus aureus.
- 12. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising a polynucleotide sequence which encodes a fusion polypeptide, wherein the fusion polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
- 13. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 12.
- 14. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 13.
- 15. A process for producing a fusion polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 14 under conditions sufficient for the production of the fusion polypeptide, wherein the fusion polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
